Greg Swaim says he has information

Stallings has 6 20 win seasons at vandy. Only 5 20 win seasons in te previous 20 seasons. He is definitely squeaky clean.

These are the two names that I have heard from some different assistant coaches in college basketball, wit Kruger being the name tossed around the most.

I would suspect this time will be a lot like last time in that the guy who is hired won't be a name that is being talked about amongst people. No one heard Jeff Capel's name before Andy Katz broke the news. I would be shocked if this time is any different with the exception of the stature of the name.

I would be thrilled with Kruger, absolutely thrilled, but Stallings isn't bad.

Yeah I like Kruger too. He really revived the Florida program before Donavan and went to the Final 4. Has done a good job everywhere he has been.

Completely agree, Booger. Lon Kruger would be a heck of a hire for OU. And I'll take your word on Stallings. What are your thoughts on Fran?

Hell no. He destroyed UNM's program for nearly a decade, players quit on him during games and walked off the floor (the late Patrick Dennehy did against Air Force). Like him as an analyst, but he's proven to be a very mediocre coach. Does not have the flash that Lavin has brought to St. John's.

I like Fraschilla, actually, but I think I'm in the minority.

He didn't do much at UNM, but that program takes a special type of coach so I don't put much stock into his struggles there.

He did a great job at Manhattan and St. Johns. The SJU team that advanced to the elite 8 in 98 or 99 and lost to Ohio State with Michael Redd, had Ron Artest, Lavar Postell, and a few other studs all recruited by Fraschilla. He wasn't coaching the year they went to the elite 8, but he had turned that program around before he left for UNM.

My only concern with him is he has had a lot of success at urban institutions (Manhattan and SJU), but little success at his only stop not at an urban institution. However, as I said earlier, I don't read much into that because it was UNM where he was and that program is different than Oklahoma.

I agree though it is ridiculous to believe that Swaim has any credible sources close to OU.

If Swaim is talking about Kruger then he's an idiot because it is flat out wrong to say that Kruger has "no deep tourney runs". The only thing that would concern me about Kruger is that he is getting up there in age (58).

:ez-roll:
That's funny, ss. Contrary to the opinion that seems to prevail on this board, most people aren't over the hill and ready for Gerbers and Miralax at 58.

Fraschilla would be intriguing because of his international ties. He could pull some talent from overseas.

He's obviously not talking about Kruger because Kruger has been to the Final 4 with UF and the elite 8 with KSU. I think he went to an elite 8 at Illinois, but I may be wrong. I know Self took IU to the elite 8 with Kruger's players in Self's first year.

He's a hell of a coach, but he's close to retirement and what better place to retire than Las Vegas?

Kruger or Stallings will do at this point. Flip a coin, make the hire and let's move on.

It's possible Kruger could want to get back closer to his roots and the cost of living here is much, much cheaper than Vegas.
