Grooms vs. Blair

One game does not decide things, and we need both of them. Still, Grooms has looked better overall.

yeah, grooms is better. No need to make a big deal about it. Blair probably will come up big down the line.

I'd say they played pretty equal against Idaho State. Blair had the better game against Coppin. And clearly Grooms was better last night.

Grooms will likely start all year, and I'm good with that. We have more scorers on the floor with the first unit, and need a guy that can penetrate and create shots. Grooms excels at that. Blair fits in better with the second unit, b/c I think he is a better scorer, and Newell can create shots on that unit as well.

My guess is that at the end of the year, Grooms has slightly outplayed Blair. But we will certainly need both, and we'll use Blair some at SG as well.

And it's not even close!

What is really hard to wrap my head around is how much better he is with no D1 experience...usually juco guys have a decent junior year and make their significant impact their senior year...just shows me how weak we were at point...

If Blair can give us 10 min a game and spell Grooms that would be a great role for him...problem is, Grooms will show some inconsistency at some point and fans won't like that and beg for the backup...Will be a fun battle between those who support each side this year..

Grooms is an elite PG. Like Edmond said his quick adjustment to the jump in the speed of the game is impressive.

But not only is he adjusting, he's already realizing he's above it. Some of those blow by spin moves make you think he might have some NBA in his future.

Who has a better PG in the Big XII? From what I've seen so far it's Grooms or Pressey. But Pressey is more like Newell and Grooms looks like a better pg.

Heh, slow down boca. :) He looked great against Wazzu. If he continues that into conference play then we can start comparing him to other elite PGs.

While Grooms is the clear choice as the starting PG, I'm still glad Blair is on our roster. If he wasn't around, Newell would be our back up point guard, and we all know that is not where he belongs.

We are fortunate to have Blair as a backup. He had a horrible game last night but has proven to be solid in the past.

I am absolutely loving Grooms.

I agree completely. He will only get better this year making the JUCO jump.

grooms entire juco team was made up of D1 players ... he is a big time guard and his top 5 juco ranking is proving to be correct

Outstanding post, boca. Grooms might be the best point guard in the big 12 this year. Anytime you can get that out of a player from day one, it means you got yourself a fantastic player.

Grooms has been awesome in Anaheim for sure.

I like Blair for 10-12 minutes per game.
