Hats off to KState

They're a bad team with 1 good player who played like they wanted to win.

OU had 5 assists in 45 minutes. That's indescribably bad. The offense this team played down the stretch, and for most of the game, was horrendous.

Kudos to Buddy for playing well. It's a shame no one else showed up to help him.
Their defense had a LOT to do with that. Probably the best defensive performance they will play this year.

Yep....and it's games like this (losing to bad teams at home) that cripple your chances at a conference championship and cost you seed lines in March. With all the equity we built up after Texas, we gave it right back....ugh. This, like Creighton, is a bad loss....there is no other way around it.

This was worse than Creighton! It was at home and in the middle of the season not the 2nd game of the season on the road!

Sometimes, five individuals revert back to playing like individuals. We kind of did that tonight. We had individuals taking shots that weren't in their inventory, and K-State was making every shot count. We did a lot of things that would have looked great if they had worked, but they didn't. The only individual that we have who operates effectively as an individual is Buddy. The rest of the team is outstanding if they play as a team.

You need a reminder like this to fix the idea in your head that you have to play as a team, or you may exit the NCAAs early.

As usual after a loss, we have way too many posts from people 'venting'. I don't know why they can't go out in the back yard and vent there.

Once more, I'll copy SoonerTraveler's post from the game prediction thread:

Heard the flu bug has hit some OU players. Don't know which ones. This could be a tighter game than many expect.

Apparently, the flu vaccine was not effective against some of the flu strains making the rounds.

Well...we are all fans and we all want OU to succeed. But we are also emotional, reactionary, and after a loss like this....frustrated. This is a message board and I would think that you would be used to it by now.

They were 8-7 coming in with losses to Long Beach State and Texas Southern. Their best win before tonight was over Texas A&M.

They only scored 55 points tonight in regulation. They had a stretch of about 8 minutes without a FG. They are not a good team. They likely finish 7th or 8th in the league.

I didn't say there were a good team. They played like a good team tonight though.

OU just needs to get better in the half court offense, along with perhaps not always "running". Several times they'd get stops only to throw the ball out and turn it over. If you have a better half court offense, you don't have to do that everytime. Just gotta start working on becoming a better half-court team with an INSIDE post up game..

KSU made some ridiculous shots that you have to give them credit for. Also, one of their guards kept zooming past our guards. Games like this early can be a boon later in the year if the team learns from them. But at the end of the day, kstate had a better half court o

Just because I am used to it doesn't mean I have to like it. Believe it or not, everyone doesn't react to losses like 10 year olds throwing a temper tantrum because they didn't get their own way.

I don't think they are a bad team. I think they were an underachieving team that probably played well above normal tonight but every team has those nights.

They are bad

And maybe people elect to lose their temper when it pertains to impertinent matters such as an idle basketball game and actually save their best behavior for things which merits it.

Well if it bothers you that much....then I would think about staying away from the board after a loss.

This is the third close loss we have to "learn from." At some point, we've got to learn it and get better ... not just keep having "learning opportunities."

We were beaten by a bad team tonight. Give KSU some credit in that they played much better than they have been. Foster actually looked like the player from last year rather than the guy who barely played against OSU.

Every loose ball went to them a few times because we took off on a fast break and just forgot to grab the ball. We had some turnovers that were unforced and just stupid. How about Ryan handing the ball to Jordan who is standing out of bounds.

KSU shot a much higher percentage than normal which may be because of the defense we played or didn't play.

In overtime Gibson pulls Thomas to the ground which would have been his 5th foul but instead they get the loose ball and Gibson hits a jumper.

We choked at the free throw line!

Probably cost us any chance of winning the league this year.

Absolutely critical. It was a game for grown men, but missing out on that whistle was a killer. Would've been up three with the ball and Gibson would've been gone.

Oh well. Hit your free throws. :(

Where were all the "bad coaches bad players!" people after the Texas game?

K-State deserved to win last night. They outplayed us and definitely wanted it more. They set the tone from the beginning and our D was terrible last night. #41 off the bench ate us up on his career game. Woodard is a liability and I hope Cousins was sick because he didn't look like the same player at all. Teams are starting to double Thomas and when we swing the ball guess who's open, Woodard. Ugh. They are going to start playing Gottlieb defense on him soon if he doesn't improve his shot.
