Lets hope we figured out how to close out games
Lets hope we figured out how to close out games
Take a deep breath, Chicken Little -- we're up by 19 with under seven minutes, and we're playing just fine.
I took that breath Wednesday night when we were up 22 at the same time. Not making that mistake until it says 00:00 on the clock
I'm never not calm, but I won't put it in the win column until 00:00. A lot of bad things can happen during these times of the game, Just ask Buddy Hield. What scares me is when we play these guys in the big 12 tourney is that they won't be ice cold from three and we won't make 30 free throws.

They werent ice cold from three today. They shot 35% from three point range. They could have shot over 40 and they still would have lost today
Percentages are deceptive. In basketball, 1-3 is a lot better than 10-30. Percentage wise they are the same, yes, but do you want to play ISU again and have them shoot 30+ threes? I'm just glad they only made 11 and our guys did what they did at the stripe or this would have been a lot closer. Again, I'm just saying that is what scares me about playing these guys in KC at 11am
Back to the question that started this thread. Did this team in your expert opinion learn anything about closing out games?
A tough loss is not all bad if you learn from your mistakes. Obviously, they did. That loss may actually turn out to be a good thing going forward. If someone had said that to me two or three days ago, I would have thought they were crazy.
I, for one, was worried we might suffer a hangover from that game. So happy these guys are mentally tougher than I thought they were.
Ya, as a team only 5 turnovers is amazing. You'll have a shot against pretty much anyone not turning it over. I'm surprised ISU didn't try to trap much in the 2nd half after made shots. They did a little, but they should have all game.
We need to continue to pound it inside w osby and mbaye. Those guys have a good advantage against ISU and continue tough defense on their perimeter shooters. Then hopefully we can be hot from midrange in the big 12 quarters against KU. The best part about this win is that we didn't turn one bad loss in to two losses. Beat WVU and tcu and we are in around 9/10 seed. I think each win in the big 12 tourney bumps us up 1 seed line.
