this question was asked on Rivals about Hornbeak and Hield.

_____________

Sooner scorers

As an Oklahoma fan I'm excited to get Jelon Hornbeak a week after getting Buddy Hield. But, doesn't it seem like they are similar players who play the same position?

Both Hornbeak and Hield are great pickups for the Sooners as four-star prospects. But, yes, they are very similar players who play the same position.

They are slender, scoring-oriented shooting guards. Even if they are the same position, if you can get two scorers, you take two scorers.

There is no doubt that these two would work well together offensively. They would give Oklahoma two legitimate scoring threats with range on the wing.

The question would be more on the defensive end. Can one of them match up on the other team's small forward? Or maybe the question will be does the mismatch they create being on the floor together work more as an advantage or disadvantage?

Even if the answer is disadvantage, you still have two great scorers who can share the shooting guard position.

Thanks for posting. If we were going to take two SGs then I wish one of them would have been James Woodard (if not Marcus Smart of course) but if Kruger can land Jordan Woodard then I will be quiet about not taking his brother...

Good find. Thanks for sharing.

My preference is to start two guys like Hield and Hornbeak at the 2 and 3 positions.

very few college bball teams have a true small forward .... most start 3 guards
