I really like what the freshman has shown us today. Getting his teeth knocked out, hitting clutch free throws, that and one at the end. He and Hield are going to be a great combination for years to come.

Yes, those two look like winners in the mold of Hollis Price and Quannas White. Not the same type of players, but a tough, winning guard combo. Given the coaching that Lon Kruger has exhibited, it will be fun to watch these guys develop.

I also still have hopes that Isaiah will get much better as he matures a bit.

Sooner basketball is fun again. Thank you seniors.

And if Woodard lives up to expectations, I think you can lump him right in there with this year's freshmen.

Can you imagine how good they have a chance to be 2-3 years from now?

I agree. When you look at Hield's game, and especially his energy/personality/attitude it's hard not to see the favorable comparison to Hollis. But, as much as I love Hollis, I think Buddy has a much better athletic upside. I have been feeling this all year.

Now, the Hornbeak/Q. White comparison is interesting. I think with respect to toughness it's pretty spot on. But Hornbeak is way better athletically and with respect to scoring. I would consider White serviceable as a scorer and athlete while he was at OU.

But, all in all I like the comparison... and, when you consider that our current guys are freshmen AND how successful Hollis and Quannas were at OU... it sure points to a really bright future for this team.

If we're lucky, Woodard/Hornbeak/Hield will turn into something very similar to White/Price/Ere.

The comparison isn't identical, but it's actually pretty close. The fact that the current guys will get to play together for 3 years gives them an advantage over the past guys. That combo really has me excited about the future. College basketball is still a guard-driven game.

and with 45 seconds to go and in the game in hand, he's diving to the floor for a meaningless loose ball. toughness.

and if you saw the concern buddy showed for his boy, asking about je'lon every time alex returned to the bench, it was just another example of the character and comaraderie that exists on this team.

Buddy and Fitz were out there picking up teeth. A freshman and a senior coming to help their teammate. This team has a great feel for each other.

This will be a hallmark of Krugers teams. If you can believe it, they practice this stuff. Teamwork and having each others back doesn't just happen. He makes them work at it. Cool to see.

I hope they announce it the next time they're going to be holding a picking-up-teammates'-teeth drill. I'd like to be there for that.

Early in the season (I forget which non-conference home game it was) Coach Kruger became very upset when two of the OU players started bad-mouthing each other following a bad play. It was obviously something that Coach did not tolerate.

You do not see that anymore. When someone has a bad play on the court, you usually see a teammate come over to encourage the player that has his head down.

Coach is obviously a team builder; and a good one.

Chipped front teeth, much different than losing both! But hey it's toughness none the less and we got a good win out of the deal.
