How do we go on?

Yes, Whitney is the best, a great person, great bb player. As far as the rest of season goes, it won't be pretty, hope I am wrong. We would have never competed at the top even with Whitney. Having no post player will get you know where. Ok, go ahead, she has improved a ton, still couldn't start for any top 25 team. Will be rooting them on hard and hope they prove me wrong.

Again Whitney you are the best

Read my sig.

Of course I was devastated when Whitney fell, but I have thought about it and it's like a NASCAR driver crashes his car in practice. What does he do? He jumps into his backup car. Our backup car is quite fast and good. I am optimistic.

Losing Whitney is a horrible loss, no way around it. You don't replace her.

The best spin I can do is that the 2013-2014 team is getting an early lesson on playing without Whitney.
4 players have to step up.
Hook, Vegas, Campbell, and Kornet.

In my mind, it is really Campbell and Kornet who have to take their games to the next level their minutes just increased but so has their opportunity.
Kornet's in particular has seen her career progression of replacing Whitney arrive a year earlier than planned.

Wut.

I've heard Coach Coale point out twice in the past two days that in 2002 the Sooners played most of the season with a 7 player rotation (though there were more available on the bench) - the starting 5 (Dales, Hill, Caufield, Ross, Talbert) and Selmon and Jackson off the bench.

Jo, Hook, Griffin, Ellenberg, and Campbell are the likely starters with Kornet first off the bench.

Probably right. I really think the fifth spot may be deterimined by who earns it in practice, or if Sherri wants to go with a bigger line up and Kornet starts for more height. Sharane plays bigger, so I have no problem with her starting at all. This is going to be fun to watch.

I agree this is going to be fun watching how this all plays out. We may not always enjoy the results but we can always speculate about what it will look like next year!

Listened to Sherri on Hale show yesterday.

She said they are investigating a number of options to increase the number of playes on the team. Obviously walk-ons, etc. Mid-season transfers are not allowed under NCAA rules, but there may be some other ways to attract some fill-in players.

There appear, from the way she and James were talking, that several options may be available to OU to increase the number of bodies.

But she said it wasn't just as easy as that, the girl/girls had to be a right mix with the team (no trouble makers is what I thought she meant) and someone willling to work hard and have their current lives disrupted for long periods of times.

Said she would announce when they decide to make a move, if they do.

Kept stressing these 8 are all good players, but admitted that fouls, additional injury, fatigue, etc. are going to have a significiant impact, so something, if it can, probably has to be done to add bodies.

She's hoping this brings about major growth in a number of players to bring them to their personal peak, and thereby improving the team.

She said it's going to be real interesting. And she's right.

If everything stays the same, we will start next season with 11 players. There will be 8 returnees plus the 3 that signed LOIs last month. We need a good recruiting class for the next year because we will lose 4 more. That would be Hook, Griffin, Ellenberg, and Durrett.

Fixed it for you: We need a GREAT recruiting class for the next year because we will lose 4 more.

You are exactly right Norm. That would be the 2014 class. I see only 2 names listed for that class on our prospects board. That is Caldwell and Turner. I may be wrong but I thought someone had posted that one or both are leaning strongly to other schools. Does anyone know the latest on these two?

Caldwell verballed to UCLA. Turner trimmed her list to Baylor, UCONN, Duke, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

Thank you aardvarkos. I thought we were out of the running for both. That does not bode well for our 2014 recruiting.
