How many '13 Ships left?

Davidson...seriously? Like he deserves a scholarship b/c he could have signed with Davidson? How about the kid wins a scholarship or he can transfer to Davidson or ORU or Tulsa.

He deserves a ship because that is the deal Kruger made with him. And for no other reason. Do you want Kruger to welch on deals he makes?

And by the way. Over the last three years, with that mess Capel put us in, CJ was taking a step down from Davidson to come to OU. According to ESPN Rankings, Davidson is a top 50 program over the last 50 yrs. and a top 25 program over the last 12 years.

I agree. If he was told something by the University, the University should honor. If Kruger is hit by a bus and he was told he would get a scholarship, he should get a scholarship.

Absolutely! If Kruger made that commitment to Cole, and the reports seem to support that claim, he needs to keep it. I have zero respect for anyone who doesn't keep his word. Unfortuately, it's far too common these days.

Scholarships are a year to year contract. Carl Blair isn't here b/c of that. The kid has to earn a scholarship...and he has a whole year to prove that he can do that while he is practicing.

Davidson is in the Southern league. If he wanted to take a scholarship and go play against App ST., Chattanooga, Samford, Wofford, Furman, etc... then so be it. OU plays in the big 12 and we need players that compete against the big boys. An academic scholarship at OU is better than a athletic scholarship at Davidson. Its just like Whaley walking on at OU, rather than taking a scholarship at some school that you don't get to see on t.v. very much. Whaley earned a scholarship and thats what Cole needs to do.

If you guys think that were going to get back to the top by recruiting guys that are choosing us over the Southern league and other small conferences while our competition are bringing in guys who are being recruited by the other big schools in big conferences...You're delusional.

Have you jumped the rails again? Davidson is a top 25 program. Period. A kid offered from Davidson is likely a better prospect than than the kids ending up in lower division BCS conference members.

You have never seen Cole play. You don't know what he will be. Neither do I. I would ask that you go back and reference your running commentary on M'Baye. That would e another example of you seeming to know everything about a kid that you have never seen.

Kruger, on the other hand, has a proven record of doing better than a fair job of evaluating talent.

1st: A top 25 program? Are you kidding me? You would put them ahead of one of the 12 ACC schools? or ahead of one of the 10 Big 12 Schools? Or ahead of one of the 15 Big East Schools? Or ahead of one of the 12 Pac 12 Schools? or Ahead of one of the 12 Big 10 Schools? or ahead of one of the 14 SEC schools? Thats not even mentioning Gonzaga and Memphis.
So out of the 75 big conference schools...Your saying that their program is ahead of 50 of them?????

2nd: As for Cole, I never said he couldn't get a scholarship...I said he needed to earn one...just like the rest of the players on our roster. Blair wasn't good enough so he hit the road.

3rd: As for M'Baye...I am still taking the wait and see approach on him. I'm not going overboard on a player that didn't look that great for a Wyoming team that doubled their wins a year after he left. Doesn't mean that he can't be great or won't be great but we brought in Osby and even though he was good...we still had a worst record then the season before. The hype on Ryan Wright took us nowhere.

4th: Kruger does have a proven record, but so do other coach's. And last year he brought in 2 juco players that took this team to a worst record than the previous season. This is the Big 12...with coach's like Huggins, Drew, Self, and Barnes.
Since 2008 Baylor, Kansas, W.V., K-St, and Texas have all been to the elite 8 or beyond. UNLV has been 0 times. So lets not act like that Kruger is light years ahead of the rest of the coach's in this league because the other coach's are succeeding as well and thats who we have to beat.

I'll give you Arent, but Grooms was a key contributed and helped on win several games and be competitive in several others during the conference season...

1. I'm not saying. ESPN ranks them as a top 25 program since 2000. Their rankings and opinions have value to some people.

2. Kruger didn't recruit Blair. Blair is at Prarie View A&M. That is where he belongs. Cole is a recruited walk-on. The deal is for book smart to pay the bill this year and basketball the next. If after that time he turns out to be a wasted ship, it would be fine with me if he moved on. You on the other hand proposed that he be recruited over next season.

3. Everyone that has seen M'Baye is on board. If you had seen him, you would probably be on board too. But, you haven't.

4. Every player that started last year was a Capel recruit. Yes, even Grooms. Huggins, Barnes, and Self wouldn't have won with that bunch either. UNLV is a tough place to recruit to for coaches that don't cheat.

They are ranked 44 here.

http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2009/1004/cbe1.pdf
In this one they are ranked 174...So? And they are both done by ESPN.

2) I propose that we recruit like we have 2 scholarships available and see if we can bring in guys that are better than Cole or even better than other guys on our roster. If Kruger can evaluate talent, then he would know if the kid is better than Cole.

3) Again..I've seen M'Baye play while he was at Wyoming. I watch College Basketball and I like to watch any game that is on t.v. I know the kid was decent there and I also know that his big games were against weaker competition and he didn't do that great against solid competition but he didn't do that horrible either. I do realize that its been 2 years since he was there so i expect better things from him. I also know that last year Leonard Washington came into Wyoming and won 10 more games. So as talented as M'Baye is...is he going to elevate this team this season into a tournament team. Thats what I'm going to wait and see on. I know he's talented but I want to see if he's going to make us a winner b/c he didn't do it at Wyoming.

4) UNLV just brought in Anthony Bennett...the number 1 Power Forward and they also brought in Khem Birch, another top 25 player. And they also brought in some other good to decent players to complement these guys...so what excuse do you have for them bringing in a solid class without Kruger??? Not to mention, there is Findlay Prep and Bishop Gorman out there in their own backyard.

There has been quite a few accusations of shady and not so legal recruiting tactics happening at UNLV post Kruger. I'm not saying it is or isn't true. But that could be the excuse.

1. The 44 rank is what I refered to as a top 50 program over the last 50 years. The top 25 is the same ranking by ESPN since 2000.

2. I would prefer that Kruger honor his commitment to recruits. I would prefer that he not run the program like Billie G. I do not know how good Cole is or will be. Neither do you. However, Kruger seems to like him. He recruited him and was under no obligation to do so.

3. So, M'Baye has to elavate a bunch to the tourney that was 14-35 in conference over the last 3 yrs. all by himself. That would be a heck of a lift for an NBA allstar. I think OU will be much improved because of M'Baye. He is better than anything Capel left us. And I think he will get plenty of help from the most recent recruiting class.

4. Please. There are plenty of people that post on here that get all lathered up over recruit rankings. Try selling that crapp sandwitch to one of them.

I dont have to sell it...if u don't want to believe the rankings that's fine, but the teams constantly in the tournament believe it and their the ones bringing in the ranked players.

Its the same story for every team...they got a top player so they must have cheated.

You mean like the OU teams in the Kelvin era?

Based on who we have on the roster, and what has been recruited I think the next ship is a SF/G type of player. Roster is tilted towards more post type players than guards. I am not counting walk ons and no offense to them.

I could care less about Davidson's place in the world of NCAA basketball. But have enjoyed reading the arguments. Like the direction Kruger has us going.

Me, too.

In case you guys haven't figured it out, bgrch1350 will never be happy with the direction Kruger is taking us. He's still living in the past hoping that Capel will come back.

This is the same guy who didn't think a Wyoming transfer named M'Baye was deserving of a scholarship. He said for months that Amath would not start this year. Funny how that annoying theme disappeared when NBA scouts and people who have actually seen the kid play said he may be one and done.

Now, bgrch just looks for any opening he can find to criticize everything Kruger does, thinking that if LK looks bad, it will make his favorite coach look good. How's that for sound logic?

I just cant see any scenario were he goes pro.

Are we baising him going pro off of people watching him practice? or what are we basing this off of? I know its not from his time at wyoming, and unless im missing something he hasnt played a game since then correct?

We are basing it off NBA Scouts mentioning he could be one and done at OU, as well as members of media outlets not associated with the university claiming the same thing. Not to mention he's shown up on a few draft board as a second round pick.
