Last year, during basketball season, I got a TON of work done because I didn't have to spend a lot of time on this board. I just quit caring, because it wasn't worth caring. They didn't play hard, they didn't rebound, they didn't play defense, they didn't buy into what Coach Capel wanted.

Now, thanks to Coach Kruger, I have to pay attention. I'm going to, once again, spend way too much freaking time on this website and my productivity is going to be crap.

I guess it's a good basketball season to be unemployed! :woot

I feel yah...

I went into internet marketing when I became unemployed. It wasn't easy and it took a few years but now I make a full income from it.

So I know how it is. I don't know what your area of work is but hang in there. If you end up unemployed too long and you become underemployed" for too long - that's where it becomes almost impossible to find a good job.

Good luck.

I, too, sympathize. I was unemployed, with only a bit of freelance work, for a year until I got my current job in September. And as grateful as I am for this job, it pays 25% less than the job I lost a year ago. But at least I'm back in the game and, if I decide to start looking around again, I'll be looking from a position of strength (easier to find a job when you have a job, or so they say).

So best of luck to you, Indy (and anyone else who's in the hunt). It'll happen, though I certainly understand it's not easy to be patient.

I will add that I just started my own little business (a one-man show, really): A walking tour operation here in NYC. And my only regret is that I didn't start it while I was un/underemployed, when I had so much time and energy to devote to getting it off the ground. So if you have any ideas along those lines, a money-making proiject you've been considering taking the plunge on, I say go for it.

Thanks, guys. I definitely am working on going solo. Going to need some supplementary income for a while, but I'm pretty sure I have a solid business plan.

Never thought I'd be out of work as a successful sales guy, but when they're looking to cut heads and they can service the Oklahoma territory out of Dallas, you become a really easy head to chop!

Now, back to basketball........Loving that OU has a team with heart again!

I would say that anytime you have the opportunity to be your own boss in any endeavor, jump at it. Just glad I learned that lesson early enough in life to not get sucked into a permanent "corporate" lifestyle with the false sense of security that comes with it.
