The best part of anything is building it. Having the vision to take an idea and evolve it from nothing into something meaningful. Having the satisfaction of successfully assembling the pieces of a puzzle.

Senior night 2013 is going to be a great night. Fitz, Pledge, Osby, Blair, Goff, Clark, Neal & newell are going to be treasured Sooners. We are going to be heading to the NCAA tournament with high expectations. Capel is putting together the puzzle and that night is going to be rewarding for a lot of people.

I'm gonna be "that guy".

Forget Senior Night 2013 -- how about Senior Night 2011? That's the night OU fans will get to show their appreciation to none other than Cade Davis, the undeniable MVP of this year's squad and the man who's showing all these young players how to comport themselves.

Right, boca?

Those guys are not all going to be seniors in 2013. Neal, Clark and Newell are all freshman. You actually had me concerned for a second that OU was going to be right back in the same spot after two more seasons. Just losing Pledger, Fitzgerlad, Osby, Blair and Goff will be tough enough.

drew is the MVP of this team and its not close

An argument could be made for him, but it's hard to be the MVP when you're sitting on the bench in foul trouble. Just ask Coach Capel, who has spoken in exasperated terms of Fitz's penchant for drawing dumb fouls in postgame interview after postgame interview.

Cade has averaged five minutes more per game than Andrew, and he stacks up very well in other statistical categories, too.

They're both shooting very well from the line (Fitz leads, .767-.745), they both average around 5 rebounds a game (not a good stat for Fitz -- he should be way ahead in boards), Fitz has 63 fouls to Cade's 48, Cade has 36 assists to Fitz's 12, 36 turnovers to Fitz's 44, 7 blocks to Fitz's 13 (that's closer than one would expect) and averages 13.2 points per game to Fitzgerald's 14.1.

Not even close? I'd say it's pretty darned close.

And not only has Cade delivered on the court, he's provided virtually the only leadership the team has. He's the one who shows all the others how it's done. I'm not talking just numbers here, but the role he plays in providing an example for the rest of the team.

Cade would get my MVP vote. And boca's, too, one would think.

Well, if and when we make it back...this is gonna be one hell of a climb...

Feels like we are staring at Mt. Everest right now...and i dont even think any of us have the proper equipment for the climb...

I agree with you Boca. It will happen......:woot:woot

So ending a horrible losing streak = Starting the climb to relevance again?

After last night you can at least have some hope for this team. OU returns Blair, Pledger, Fitzgerald, and Clark as starters. The key reserves at this point are Neal, Newell and Washington and all return. Each of those guys should be improved next season. They add Osby and Goff. That should make a big difference in the front court.

OU needs to add an backcourt player that can produce points and defend.

The next thing OU has to learn to do is play defense. OU let Tech shoot over 50% from the three point line and got out rebounded. Those areas must improve. The Sooners do deserve credit for getting so many turn overs.

If this group can learn to play defense perhaps there is hope for next season.

Denver, five of Tech's seven three-pointers came in the final two minutes, when the Sooner defenders had no doubt been instructed to be careful not to foul. They still count, of course, but in my opinion, those threes don't reflect as badly on OU's team defense. We had a double-digit lead and I'm sure Coach told them to defend very carefully.

Tech had twenty turnovers, which reflects well on the team defense OU played.

The rebounds, I have no defense for. We have precious little depth in the paint, and our best post player, Fitzgerald, is not a great rebounder.

Fitz is a good player. Even though he might not be the most talented player you can build around him.

You could compare him to Marshall Moses, a undesized PF forced to play his position for the greater cause. He allows everyone else to play a more natural position.

Two rebounds in thirty-seven minutes of play. This must improve...

way to leave out a key stat that makes it not close ..

FG% drew .532 cade .431

and that fact that drew brings it every night and is almost always in double figures ...
