I REALLY hope people were paying attention to these exhibitions

Coolm just hopes we don't remember his hilarious meltdown last spring, where he went full r-tard.

Very common for Sooner fans to have unreasonable expectations in every sport. I refuse to do anything more than just enjoy supporting my team and University, like I did with Capel, KS, Tubbs, Bliss, etc....

I obviously see the short comings we have, just as I did last year. I know that if nothing else, some of the guys are 1 yr older/more experienced, and we added some new blood to help with some of our shortcomings. I will not act as if Capel was the only reason we struggled, when I see we are not as talented as Sooner teams in the past.

I also will not base every post about this years team on comparing Kruger to Capel, Sampson, or Tubbs, because I don't have anything but support and hope for whoever is coaching, and I don't want to flood the board with my previous coach rhetoric that a few here live to spew.

With that said, if we go to the Dance, I will be happy and pumped. If we struggle, I refuse to turn on the coach or players, and I will still be supportive of my University, until the powers that be make another change if they see fit. I will then support whoever they hand the wheel to....... just how I roll.

BOOMER!!!!!

Expectations...I expect the team to be .500 or better. If they're a lot better than .500, like the .700 range, I'll consider that icing on the cake. So far, I'm happy with what I'm seeing.

As usual, JMizzy, it's so refreshing to read your posts...my sentiments exactly.

I've always tried to keep my expectations reasonable. Since the start of the Billy Tubbs era, I can only remember three teams which dramatically underperformed what I expected - 1993, 2006, and (worst of all) 2010. My expectations this year are similar to what they were in Coach Capel's first year - a team capable of making the NIT if enough things go right.

Seeing the first two exhibition games has caused me to get REALLY pumped for the 2013 season. Got a chance to turn a corner then.

As for 2012, I look forward to, hopefully, improving every night.

I agree with boca .500 in conference which has normally gotten us to the dance. It was always an expectation to make it under Sampson not a goal past the mid 90s. Kruger is just as capable

Good insight!:clap
I think there is a significant distinction between expectations and goals that is being overlooked. Expectations are things that are taken as a given, goals are things you work for to try to achieve. Just like any other season, I think that the goal for the OUMBB should be to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Just like any other season, I think that the expectation should be that our kids are prepared and play hard.

To emphasize the distinction, I do not believe that Jeff Capel was let go because he failed to reach the goal of making the NCAA two years in a row, but because he failed to live up to expectations two years in a row. In fact, it was his termination that crystallized in my mind the distinction between expectations and goals from a fans perspective. Everything I've seen from CLK leads me to think that he will meet expectations this season; whether his team is able to reach a standard goal of the OUMBB program is TBD.

he will be a JR next year ..

and with osby and grooms .. we are 100 times more athletic on the court then last seaosn

I do have high expectations for this team...I expected a lot more for this team if Capel was still here and I'm not backing off of that just b/c we have a new coach.

Last year we rebuild and now they have a team with depth. And my expectations don't just fall on what our team has but what other big 12 teams don't have. We should be better than TT, ISU, Texas, K-St, and OSU. Baylor is solid, but we proved that an undersized OU team last year could beat them so its not far fetch that we could beat them again. KU has a great starting 5...but they have no bench what so ever. aTm should be solid again. Mizzou lost the Bowers kid and their coach which is what made them so good to begin with, and they add a coach that couldn't ever get above .500 in the ACC.

Our coaching is light years better than what we had last year and I think our talent is a little better so I think we can win 7-9 conference games which would be an upgrade. If we manage our OOC schedule decently, we can approach the 16-17 win mark and maybe earn an NIT birth.

If we don't get an NIT birth, then I won't be down. At least the previous coach is gone so we will be back soon.

How do we know he is not being hyped like osby was? I think osby will be great but he is def not a program changer

Because I've seen it with my own eyes, multiple times.

Don't be too quick to sell Osby short. Relative to where the program is right now. He will be a big factor.

As far as M'buy. He is the real deal/

who was it that was hyping up osby besides capel then? because it seemed al and everyone on the radio kept say we were 2-3 games better with osby

it wasnt just capel on the osby bandwagging it was everyone....was capel making everyone feel this way? if so he needs to go into sales

I agree he is a huge factor....but he does not make us 2-3 games better
