I know a former Tennessee player and he told me that recruit at the BBQ ordeal was blown out of proportion. He also stated that he loved Pearl.

Here's a thought: maybe these coaches know way more about basketball than all of you and maybe not all NCAA run ins are the end of the world? I don't see anyone throwing Bud under the bus and he certainly had his share of crap with the NCAA.

A side note on the guy I'm referring to: He really like OU at the time but Pearl was the deciding factor. His name is Stanley Asumnu if that rings a bell for anyone. He came out of Houston. He's a beast to defend.

Pearl is better than what we have now. Why would he come here? Why would any major head coach come here at this point.

Terry Evans is my pick. Why not. He might be John Blake or he might be Sherri Coale. One thing for sure, he is not Jeff Capel.

I would be so thrilled with that hire that I really couldn't express my exultation in words.

I once deemed Pearl a clown, but the guy is a winner. Tennessee Basketball is nothing. They'v been searching for the next Bernard King for 30 years. They're even overshadowed by their fellow tenants....the Lady Vols.

But Pearl didn't care. He embraced it, all of it, and he's been rewarded with big crowds and big success. Don't believe me? Tennessee had never made it past the Sweet 16.....EVER! And he's had them to #1 in the country.

He's taken them to the NCAA Tournament every year he's been there.

'07: NCAA Sweet 16
'08: NCAA Sweet 16
'09: NCAA First Round
'10: NCAA Elite 8

It's not like the SEC sucked all those years. His first two years were up against those monster Florida teams. And he's got a system he recruits to, and a style he preaches and believes in totally.

If we hired him I'd do cartwheels all the way down Chautauqua from Boyd to Highway 9.

Like I said, Tennessee Basketball is nothing. It's historical garbage, and he's MADE something of it.

He's got some NCAA troubles now but, honestly, I don't care. College BBall is a dirty game and I enjoy winning too much to go quietly into the night by doing things the right way and STILL lose craploads of players every year.

It gets old. We deserve better. We've got too much history to be this lousy.

I usually scoff at people who suggest other coaches leaving their current and coming here...but this is one I could actually see.

I would put Bruce's chances of coming to OU at 0%. He already makes like $1 mill more than Capel. Just my opinion but he's too big of a fish for OU right now.
