If not Capel, who?

Gillespie is more of a hard alcohol guy and is actually a better coach. Think you get the best of both worlds. You want support for OU basketball on campus, guarantee you'll get it if you roll into frat parties late night and hit the shot block. Respect.

:ez-roll: :clap

"In 2008, Smith had the highest salary of any state employee in Minnesota."

Can Oklahoma match that?

This.

I don't know what his salary is but I'm sure 600k a year would be close the highest paid state employee in Minnesota. So that doesn't really tell me much.

Learn how to read, I said post season, not NCAA, he also made the NIT. That is more than capel will do this year or did last year and his first year. Capel has only won with Blake Girffin. He gets credit for recruiting and signing him, but he has not been able to win without the best or second best player in OU history (Depending on if you put him above Tis).

Who cares about the NIT. Capel won with Blake Griffin AS A FRESHMEN...lets not put FRESHMAN BLAKE WITH SOPHMORE BLAKE... FRESHMAN BLAKE WAS NOT ONE OF THE TOP 10 PLAYERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY. SOPHMORE BLAKE MIGHT BE 1 OR 2 BUT NOT FRESHMEN BLAKE.

So Capel made it to the tournament with a solid player...and then dominated the following year with a great player.

Lets not forget that Sampson left Capel with Nate Carter being our best player and some how managed to getting a winning season out of that subpar team.

Billy Gillespie had a great scorer in Meeks and Patterson along with some other players and he struggled to win along with the best fans ever to give great home court advantage. Whats his excuse. Lets not forget that he also had aTm best player ever in ACIE LAW when he won there.

After not playing him for half the season.

i think ou should retain capel.

but to play along... the last time this got rehashed, some people were advocating buzz williams. he'd be outstanding at ou.

Ok, lets look at that season. He had Blake Griffin (still very good as a freshman), Taylor Griffin (very good), Austin Johnson (good), Longar Longar (good), Tony Crocker (good), David Godbold (good)... So, he had Blake Griffin and an entire team of Sampson leftovers. Thats point #1.

Point #2,

Lost by 30 to Louisville
Lost by 30 to Kansas
Lost by 30 to Texas
Lost by 20 to UT (in Norman)
Lost by 15 to Colorado
Lost by 17 to Texas
Lost by 18 to Nebraska
Lost by 10 to Memphis
Lost by 11 to USC
Lost to Stephen F. Austin

That team (with a good collection of talent and experience) got run out of the gym 9 times and lost to Stephen F. Austin. Three 30 point blowouts (well, UT won by 28 one of the games), blowouts to CU and Nebraska, etc.

Can you imagine Sampson with the same talent getting run out of the gym that many times? I sure as hell cant.

He played in every game, he only started half of them though
He played less than 5 minutes a game for half the season. Then suddenly played 30 minutes a game and went up to 17 points a game.

I would love to throw them back with Billy Clyde at OConnels after a game.

Taylor Griffin...Average, Johnson-Avg, Longar-good, Crocker-decent, Godbold-Average. If those guys were good...we wouldn't have gotten killed by those teams.

Theres just no giving credit to Capel. The wins don't go to him but the losses do.

Sampson may have been able to bring in Reynolds and James but Griffin has already said that he did not want to play for Sampson.

Taylor Griffin was on a NBA team for a year. Austin Johnson is tearing it up overseas. He was a damn good college player. I think the talent that first year is probably comparable to now though. I hate all the assumptions about Sampson and the Griffin bros. We still don't know and will probably never know.

You are literally too stupid to insult. Taylor played in the NBA, so now that is average. Got it.

I am convinced that bcrgh is Capel's cousin or something. He makes Faithful look like Debbie Downer.

We were talking about when Johnson was a junior and taylor was a junior and blake was a freshman. Johnson always had ankle problems averaging 8.6 ppg while Taylor only averaged 6.5 ppg and 4.5 r/g.

and as seniors...neither one of them could average up to or over 10ppg. I'm glad Taylor was able to get his 15 minutes on an NBA roster. Kudos to him. His senior year he only averaged 9.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg. I guess since he got drafted that makes him better than Taj Gray, Bookout, Longar, Price, Crocker, and Everett. No draft for those guys, I guess you all would put Taylor on your roster over those guys.

Also Taylor was taken in what they called the weakest draft of all time and so he was taken in hopes that he might be able to turn into what his brother was...

I wonder why he's no longer on a roster...hmmm

I've played with Taylor and against him...He's athletic as they come but he's always lacked a jump shot and beyond and he lacks what his brother has and thats the offensive instinct to score. He's a cleanup guy. If he had a scoring mentality he would have been a lot better for OU.

He was taken to fill a role, no one thought he would be like his brother.

Because there are a number of guys who can do what does...but average? Please. Do you honestly think his numbers during the junior and senior year campaigns weren't suppressed due to the fact he played behind Longar and Blake?

You should feel honored, you played with a NBA draft pick.
