If not Evans, who else would make a great recruiting asst coach?

I keep hearing "has to be able to recruit Texas/Oklahoma"...Is Terry that guy? Kruger contacted Jeff Webster...

Who's a guy familiar with recruiting these two states?

Isn't Jeff Webster really tight with the DFW AAU scene??

Webster is on the coaching staff of the Texas Titans (Julius Randle, Zach Peters, Matt Jones, etc), they're the Dallas area repersentive in the Nike EYBL this year.

Jeff Webster would be a great potential hire imo. Young, energetic, great knowledge of the Texas basketball recruiting beat, former Sooner, an Oklahoman, and he can help coach the bigs.

I'd be very pleased with Jeff Webster or Terry Evans.

SoonerDAZE made it pretty clear that it's unlikely Webster would accept the job.

I too would love him, though.

Interesting that you brought this up. I asked those same questions in a PM exchange with OUHoops earlier today. It occurred to me that while Terry Evans would be a nice hire, he may not be the best choice as an assistant who can recruit Texas as well as Oklahoma. Recruiting Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and other hotbeds for talent in the Longhorn state is key. I know Terry said he could do it. But is there someone else out there who would be better?

Jeff Webster is a name that came immediately to mind. I'm betting there are others, so maybe a discussion like this can be of some help to Coach Kruger in finding the best fit as well as the best man for the job.

I get the feeling its going to be a guy off our radar who has a lot of ties to this region.

Not to mention, Evans would be the 3rd assistant. That, for a guy that pushed hard to get the head coaching job. I'm just not sure it's a good fit.

Depends, he certainly put his name out there . . . but he also has indicated that this was a good hire. IDK, just seems like where there is smoke there is fire.
