You got to offer over 2 million a year. Myself and some of the other ambassadors at the U of Memphis discussed this issue earlier this week when our AD cornered us on it. He has a solid offer on the table right now at about 1.7. He may have signed it, I just don't know yet. I can assure you we will not go higher. His base pay was just over 800k.

Offer him that and you can have him. If you do most likely Bruce Pearl will be our next coach.

I'd take Pearl any day over the on our current list sans NCAA troubles or at least the reputation he's built. I think it's minor shi'ite but it's almost impossible to get board approval on.

There are a few of our top 50 donors at Memphis that love Pearl. He will be offered if Pastner bolts. He knows Memphis. He recruited 6 of our current players extremely hard. They still like him.

Just for the record we matched Kentucky dollar for dollar and even threw in a private personal jet. I know because it was my friends jet that they offered him. He turned us down because it was a Kentucky and he was in trouble with the ncaa. He wasn't the first though. He was just the only one to get caught.

Pastner is a great guy but I feel the money we are offering is good. I can't blame him if he goes though. Everyone wants big $$ and the opportunity to be closer to home.
