This would actually be a good hire for OU. Not a "knock your socks off hire" but a GOOD solid hire. I think he would recruit regionally just fine and might actually get us in on some Chicago kids.....which wouldn't be a bad thing.

He can coach for sure. Every time I've ever heard anyone talk about him they say he is a very good X's and O's guy.

He couldn't land Scheyer...Weber's brother was his high school coach.

He is not the answer. He hasn't done anything without Deron Williams, Dee Brown, Luther Head, Augustine, and Powell, who were all of Self's recruits.

The thing is, I guarantee he won't get a raise @ Illinois. They are not happy with that garbage product @ a bball school.

We would be a perennial 7th or 8th in the Big 12-2.

Kelvin is 100 times the coach this guy is. It is not even up for debate. Weber inherited a Final 4 team and is still living off of that.

Capel is a better coach than this guy. Not really that close either.

Bruce Weber would be an absolutely awful hire. Agree with maddog that he can't keep talent in, what makes us think he can get kids to come play basketball at OU when it's far and away below football at a place like OU?

Excuse the underscores, but trying to edit it for clarity. He inherited an amazing squad from Self, only to drive it into the ground. They have gotten substantially worse over his tenure. Why would we want a coach that takes something great and turns out mediocrity, when we are trying to find a guy to come in and turn us around? Forget finding a guy to come in and take over for 5+ years and then we can get someone else, this is going to be another guy we are going to have to fire in 5 years and do this process again because we won't be an attractive job.

You missed the analogy apparently. Weber goes to the NCAA's virtually every year and Illinois fans aren't happy with it...Sounds familiar to me...

My bad, Colston. I wasn't really insinuating you thought Weber was better than KS or anything, just wanted to say for the record that he is nowhere near as good of a coach as KS.

It is evidenced by IU destroying the Illini when Kelvin was there. KS stole the best recruit Weber ever had committed from his own backyard.
