In honor of the 2011 slam dunk contest coming up in a couple weeks...

Best dunker in a game = Dominque Wilkins (but soon will be Blake Griffin)

Best dunker in a contest = Vince Carter (but soon will be Blake Griffin)

Worst dunker in a contest = Nate Robinson (watching his 14 tries each time is painful)

it's not even close. Dr. J is first. period. all the others are mere posers.

Michael would be second.

It's like...Dr. J on the couch...Michael in the backroom...and no one else within a city block.

That's probably right. I'm too young to really remember Dr. J but based on the highlights, he's incredible. MJ has to be way up there too. Really it's between Dr J. and MJ for number 1. Vince Carter, Dominique Wilkins would be next. You are 100% right on Dr. J getting disrespected. I think it's just cause not many here saw him play that much

Jordan may have been copying Dr. J, but Jordan's version was better.

Michael Jordan

I think I have to give a slight edge to Jordan because of one thing. He was so violent with his dunks and always tried to dunk on the other teams biggest players.

FROM......the University of Massachusetts.....
NUMBER 6.....
CAPTAIN of the Philadelphia 76ers.....

Julius......The Doctor.......ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRVING!

Everybody else is a distant second. Except for maybe Dominique. Dude was the best in-game dunker I've ever seen.

One thing I will say for Dr. J is that most of his dunking prime was never caught on film. By the time he got to the NBA, he was already in his mid-late 20s. We missed five years of his athletic prime in the ABA.
