Baylor has retired Sims jersey but not Griner's.

Griner never received her degree....that may play apart in it. Everyone mulkey has coached has graduated except Griner
Good point!
Yes, but I think there is plenty of "interesting" that could be discussed in our own backyard.
I guess I don't follow what you are suggesting, Bay(lor).

SoonerBay thinks Courtney's jersey should have been retired already.
Historically, OU doesn't hand out these types of honors quickly. Hollis Price and Blake Griffin haven't been honored yet, but I'm sure they will be, as will DRob and CP3.
Is it possible this was Mulkey's way of getting back at Griner?
I think OU likes to wait until their playing careers are over before honoring their numbers.

Absolutely correct. In fact OU football team has never honored a jersey of any player. Basketball has been the only sport to do so and former multi first team consensus All Americans Gerald Tucker from the 40's and Lester Lane from the 50's have never had any public support to honor their numbers.
Gerald Tucker was also the 1947 Player of the Year by the Helms Athletic Foundation which was the #1 service selecting All Americans along with Convere and True Magazine. Those Sooners played for the national championship and lost to Holy Cross 47-58. Tuckers accomplishments are definitely on par with Adams, Blaylock and King. Tisdale perhaps not. He was also an All American both before and after WWII.

I think there are multiple WBB players worthy of having their jersey honored in time but I am opposed to such an honor without the passing of significant time (decade or more). Making that decision too soon after retirement often brings too much emotion into the decision.
Allowing the passing of time make comparison of players from different era a more pragmatic decision. For certain Courtney Paris needs to be on the short end of the qualification window whatever the university decides it is.

Spock, there was a time I would have agreed with waiting at least a decade, BUT it seems to me that OU needs to catch up with the rest of the WINNERS. If I want to know how to sell a billion burgers, I research McDonald's. If I want to know how to build a winning program, I research the winners. My gripe/opinion for the past 7 years is the lack of emphasis on recruiting and signing top 10 players. But that's a dead horse as far as I'm concerned. UCONN has honored players while they are still playing in college!

I'm sure it's quite impressive, informative and helpful with their recruiting when athletes visit and see the honor bestowed on players who have contributed significantly. Notre Dame has honored SDiggins already. I think OSims is right on time considering it is going to help with their recruiting especially with her now playing in the WNBA in Dallas.
EDIT:
In our world of technology, social media,etc... if OU waits a decade to honor a player, the recruit comes in and says, "Who's SDales? Who's CParis? Who's DRob? Again...gotta make hay while the sun is shining! It's a different world!
