Its been 5 years of basketball, and I still can't tell what OU is trying to do on offense or defense. It looks different every year, no, every game.

Here's what you do...

I tried to tell you people last night. Giving a fan of OUhoops credit for not dumping on the state of the program after a loss? That's a thread I can't wrap my head around.

I'm not a Billy Clyde fan, just seems too shady for me.

Buzz in the Big 12 would be awesome. I hated that guy when Mizzou played Marquette in the NCAA tournament a couple years ago... but it's the kind of hatred you enjoy.

A lack of a definite style of play was one of Quin's major undoings as a coach. I think it's a flaw all former Dukies have. Coach K recruits a certain type of athlete that can run his offense, which apparently involves players making a lot of decisions on their own without a ton of set plays. It doesn't work if you don't recruit Duke-caliber athletes (and that includes the mental part of the game).

Here's what YOU do: stop saying "we". You have no right to say "we", and you never will. Enjoy this while it lasts, jackwagon.

I think we probably wind up with a new coach.

It's one thing to envision the number of losses (over/under at 20 anyone?) at this point in the season. It will be another to actually witness them, one by one, read the write-ups, see the long faces on the bench (coaches and players), see programs like Nebraska streak by us, suffer the slings and arrows of Pokes and Longhorns et al and see that "11" or "12" by our name in the conference standings. And to top it off, we're looking at probable NCAA sanctions. If those come in the midst of a horrible season it will only go from bad to worse.

I'm not a Capel hater, I still think he's a better coach than we are seeing. He's had a tough break with some MCD AAs who many other coaches were recruiting. However, he hasn't done enough to point the finger at himself for the position in which he finds himself. We may spiral down from here (like texas did in football, and look at all those 4/5 stars).

But, chances are, we'll get a little better (we'll settle on a steady line-up and rotation, the early season is time to experiment, especially with a virtually new team) - but everyone else will too. Our window this year to pull upsets is extremely small this year due to the talent level.

So it's no stretch to say that this season will end in a huge funk. We may not see attitude problems but our win-loss looks like it may be worse than last year. With that, and the NCAA, how does Capel recruit? Something tells me Boren and Joe C. want to stick by him. But with all that bad mojo how can he stay?

I started this season cautiously pessimistic. It's still early, but, sadly, it seems to be playing out. I assume the worst with the above (re the record and the NCAA) and it may not be fair but that's my mood right now.

This coach is a finger point and blames the kids. After awhile the kids shut down, stop playing hard and stop listening. He has no idea how to handle kids at a big time D-1 program. His players get worse not better. Blake was already a lotto when he stepped on campus. Willie Warren was going to be a first round pick if not a lotto. He was the leading scorer in the MDAA game. Warren took a step back his Soph year, had he come out his FR year he would have been a middle 1st round pick. This coach has dismantled over 15 players all of which have transfered, left early or never showed up. We had 2 MDAA stars last year and he found a way to run them off their college opportunity over after one year. When 1 or 2 kids leave its the kid, when 15 leave its the coach.

I see him sitting on the bench with his head in his hands, while the other coach hammers the ref.'s and fires up his team. This is our coach are we serious?

Is this the face of OU BB you want? I certainly don't.

I don't know but in my opinion there is one BIG thing working agaist Capel for staying if he does not turn it around. That is our recruiting class. One lone guy right now. If we have to let him go the admin only has one recruit to have to let go it he wants to. We might loose a player or two transfering but I don't think they want to see us loose another class of four-five guys which is what we will be replacing in 2013 and after. I like Capel and really, really hope he can turn it around but I don't know at this point. I still plan on watching even if I have to be depressed about it.

Bingo!!

Unfortunately, OU has to make a coachin change. Even more unfortunately, I don't think Joe C realizes it yet. I am pretty sure Joe C is going to give Capel another year.

The biggest problem I have with Capel is this exact question. What in the heck is his style? What does he want this team to be? We should know the answers to those questions.

As best as I can tell Jeff Capel wants OU to be a team that wins on individual efforts and contested 3 point shots while giving a limited effort on the defensive end of the floor.

I dont know why people get on BigABD for. 3 losing season in 5 is unacceptable. Its time for a change. If he is not fired at the end of the season I will not renew for next year.
