Jacob Hammond has committed to OU

I'm not sure how you can look at this video and not be impressed knowing it is a 15/16yo kid. Is he college ready? Not by a long shot but he just started his junior year in high school. The kid has two entire years to develop his ever growing and changing body as well as his game before he steps a foot on campus. There aren't many kids his size and age much less ones that can do the things he does. I don't know how well of a college player he will turn out to be but right now this kid has anything but filler written all over him.

The other thing that Hardrick's offer was based on a "projected" height that never panned out and prior to one [or two] somewhat serious knee injuries. Also, I think that Kelvin offered Hardrick if I am not mistaken and I know Kelvin knew what he was doing. This kid is already somewhere between 6'9" or 6'10" and his flaws are both common for kids that age and readily resolved. Guess we'll see in three years when he can actually play for OU, lol!

Man, we sure do have alot of internet tough guys on this forum. Last I checked a forum is about expressing ones opinion. If infact I am wrong I will only post positive stuff about the program and refrain from anything else.

I said "by the video alone im not that impressed". Thats far from dissing the kid. Infact when WT said he was only entering his junior season and still has time to develop I agreed with him. Me potentially comparing him to bookout is anything far from a diss, that in my book is a complement.

I guess I am just tired of offering guys and then they turn out to be nothing. We have offered a ton of bigs over the last few years that were no were near big 12 potential. I realize that was capel not kruger but still I have that bitter taste in my mouth.

You should change your screen name to internet tough guy...

No worries Lucky. Keep posting!!!! Everyone is ready to see OUr program back to a high level, and sometimes when you question LK or what is currently going on, some will pounce on you. I didn't personally see anything deragatory or attacking about what you posted.

I truly believe LK is making good moves, especially based on what he is/was up against as the coach. But, he also can be questioned in his decision making. I am hapy about both of our commits, but I wouldn't blast someone who questions or disagrees with it.

Don't let anyone stop you from contributing or chiming in!!!! :OU-logo::OU-logo:

In 2014 we'll have at least five Oklahoma boys on scholarship.

Spangler
Neal
Cole
Hammond
Woodard

Wonder when the last time that happened was?

unless Neal RS he will be gone before Hammond gets to OU

I'm pretty sure that Capel recrited Hardick. One of his first recruits.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with questions about Hammond. But when someone has an immediate opinion that he won't be good there is likely to be a reaction. Not saying that that was exactly what was said but that was the message I got from the post.

He could stop development but he has come a long way in a very short time. And when you are 6-10 in high school it is pretty easy to overwhelm most of your opposition. So the question is how will he handle the speed and strength of Big 12 players.

My biggest concern is that we are over a year from when he can sign on the dotted line. If he has a huge junior year the big basketball schools will be all over him.

Your biggest concern about Hammond is that he's going to get so talented that the Kentucky's and Duke's are going to try and steal from OU? Now that is relentless fan optimism.

Glad the staff found someone they like and the kid commits, that's all good. I know bigs can be late bloomers so I won't count on him or call him a bust till his 2nd or 3rd year 2016/17.
