Josh Pastner a serious candidate?

Pastner would be an incredible hire at this point

Completely agree.

His first year at Memphis, they lost SEVEN players, and had four of their five committed players bolt to either follow Calipari or go elsewhere.

So 11 players had to be replaced starting in April.
Memphis went 13-3 in conference that year.
Dude can coach.

Nobody is concerned about the fact that he was a Calipari asst.? I don't want any part of Calipari.

i get the feeling joe has his guy, only because it's rare to see talks re-ignite if there isn't serious consideration on the part of pastner. clo$e the deal.

but if pastner gets cold feet, on top of the buzz fiasco, it's gonna be embarrassing.

Joe C is closing the deal while he's at a funeral. Almost Godfather like.

Personally, I don't care much for Pastner but think he is much better than Johnny Jones.

He doesn't have much experience and I think if the support isn't here he would be on the first train out. We need someone who wants to be here for at least 5 years to clean up this mess.

If Joe C can convince Pastner to take the job, I will be blown away. That would be a great hire.

Get him to sign on the line which is dotted.

I agree. He can definitely upgrade the talent, and I think he's done a good job at Memphis so far.

Show of hands...How many of you really think Pastner is coming to OU? Just curious.

I don't know what kind of computer you have, but I'm having trouble seeing who's hands are raised.

I think Pastner would be Joe's first choice ahead of Buzz, mainly because of money. Josh has everything Buzz has that OU fans want, minus 2 tourney wins this year, and a couple of years head coaching experience.

However, he has the Texas recruiting ties that people want, and has proven he can coach. He's two more years at Memphis away from being ahead of Buzz Williams on the coaching tree.

He might as well have those two years at OU.

If Buzz and MU would have lost in the first round, would people be really excited about him coming here?

And the best thing about him is that unlike Billy Gillespie, he isn't old enough to drink or get in strip bars. What was that movie where the kid coached the NBA team?

Hey, I say go with it if he will take the job. What is the worst that can happen -- we lost 70 percent of our games, don't go to the post season and nobody goes to the games?
