Juco Center Emmanuel Ugboh being recruited by OU

Doolittle & Manek are 4s, freeman 4/5, Kuath 5. OU has 7 4/5s & 5 1-3s.

We have nobody on the roster that has contributed anything worth a damn at the 5 position. If we have an opportunity to bring in someone that can actually play the position and contribute quality play to help us win, then we should do so.

Naming all the dead weight on the roster does not prove your argument.

My argument was that OU has more people at 2 positions, so I did prove my argument. I’ve also said if they can get a good grad big then that’s what they should do, if not then Chris Harris would be a good get.

Would love to have chris Harris, especially over another juco project big.

Have you watched us play? Doolittle plays the 5, and he has been our best player. And he will continue to play the 5 next year, no matter how many project JUCOs we bring in.

While I think in an ideal world we certainly have something better (bigger) inside than both Doolittle and Manek, the days of teams having giant 5's is coming to an end. How many teams have guys like that that are actually good? Mostly the blue bloods. I'm perfectly fine having somebody like Lattin/McNeace, then going smaller, but you can win a lot of basketball games not playing a true center.

Freeman and Kuath are not 5's. They may play center on this team, but they are not centers. Freeman did not play a single minute at the 5 last season, Kuath wasn't a 5 at Salt Lake Community College and he's not listed as a center on the roster this year. At 6'9" 250 lbs you could sell me on Corbin Merritt being a 5 next year, but not a 6'9" 204 lb Kuath.

LOL. Doolittle is not a 5, never has been.

It’s who you can guard. Kur will have to guard 5’s.

There are 5 guys on the court at a time. One is a 1, one is a 2, one is a 3, one is a 4, and one is a 5. This is very simple stuff. It doesn't matter if you think he is better as a 4 than a 5. He PLAYED the 5 (as well as the 4 on occasion).

LOL. Your knowledge of the game is mind boggling. LOL

He plays the 5 for us. You can’t deny that.

That’s the problem. He’s not a 5 and never has been. That was the original point before the thread derailed. I said if we have a chance to get a legit 5, then we should do so because we don’t have one ever since McNeace checked out.

We get that. Ok so say Doo played the 5 but was a true 4 man.

So that makes them a 5. In no way shape or form is Freeman a 3.

You literally said:

It's one thing to say that Doolittle's true position is closer to a 4 than a 5, but it's an entirely different thing to say that we got no production from the 5 position. Doolittle played the 5 for us, and he was our best player, thus we got more production from the 5 position than any other position. Our issues did not come from the 5.

McNeace is one of the only players in the entire Big XII listed as a center. The only team with a "true 5" that would have helped us considerably this year was Texas, and guys like that don't commonly go to schools that haven't been accused of paying players. Virginia has a true 5, but he only played 2 minutes tonight because UVA knew Doolittle would have shredded him.

If we need another guard I don't understand why we didn't even try to recruit Taj Sherman from Collin County CC in Texas.... Its 3 hours away from Norman and he will be choosing between Utah, West Virginia, and Texas Tech. OSU tried to recruit him but he wasn't selected, but OU showed no interest.

6'4'' guard that is a 40% 3pt shooter on 239 attempts... Averages 26/5/5 on the year.

Could be a guy that helps you next year if you need a scorer/shooter at a guard spot.

How do you know that OU did not look at this player, or try to get him? The recruiting function is far from a scientific endeavor.

Maybe OU took a serious look and the player had no interest in OU (?)
Maybe OU learned of some "issue" and took a pass on this prospect (?)
Maybe the player's coach dislikes OU and had a strong influence on the player (?)

Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. The scenarios in the recruiting world are endless. Unless you have some actual inside information on this particular recruit, and know for a fact that OU "didn't even try" .. then your post is rather pointless.

Just my opinion.

Seems like the board is up in the air on what the team needs... I guess if Freeman, Polla, and Merritt aren't on the team next year it has to be post players.

Between JB, Harmon, Reaves, Williams I could see the need for one more... But how long will it be before we know defections?
