I realized I have failed to follow this basic rule. To review: trolls are attention whores. They thrive off of your written anger concerning some mindless crap they wrote. Don't be deluded into thinking that they believe what they say - the truth has no place in the world of a troll. Reading all of the attention that their post gets is their only concern.

Have you read something, facepalmed, then angrily taken to your keyboard to retort? You, my friend, have just been trolled. Anger is their manna; indignation their sustenance. They care not for what they write, except its potential for angry responses.

Friends, they are near. Trolls are busy composing something infuriating, right now, hoping you will be angry enough to reply, so they can rinse and repeat. They thrive on the vicious cycle of criticism of their opinions. They feel important and better about themselves when their writing gets attention. They will probably reply to this thread. Don't feed them if they do.

How can we defeat the troll, you ask? With ignorance. Not the pervasive ignorance that permeates their rotten posts, no. That is there to goad you into responding. No, ignorance of the individual and their vile writing is the only thing that will drive them away. Remember: they are only satisfied when their inadequate ego is stroked by you responding to the crap that they write. They don't even believe half the things they say; they only choose things to write based on the potential for an angry response.

I write this as a measure of warning - they almost got me today. They attack when you are at your most vulnerable - after losing a game or a valued recruit. Then they come in attacking the few things you like, hoping that your disappointment will render you emotional enough to angrily reply to their swill, therefore validating, and feeding them. They will attempt to call you clueless, delusional, uneducated, in a bubble, a homer, a sunshine pumper, and a gloom and doomer, anything to get you to reply one more time.

We are the board! They are the trolls! They don't dictate what we discuss! We do! Resist, keep calm, and DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!

:clap:clap:clap I need to be reminded of this as I too am guilty of feeding the trolls.

.... DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!

Yes indeed!

I began a new personal policy very recently. There are two (2) regular posters to this board that I passover when I see their names. I no longer read their posts. Based on past experience, I do not value their thoughts or comments, so I do not waste my time. I just do not care what they think or say.

The point of this thread is very sound. Very logical. Very pragmatic. If you get drawn into a futile discussion with either of these two, then that is your fault. Don't blame them. It is not their fault. Its yours.

The ignore feature of this board is a wonderful thing.

I just figured out how to use this feature. It is a beautiful function!

:clap

Now I just have to overlook and ignore when their comments are quoted.

I try not to use it, hoping that everybody occasionally has some insight, if buried under mounds of mack brown...

You're a nice guy. There are a handful I have completely given up on. I gave them a chance but they have each proven what their real intentions are.

Being different from the pack is not a validation of intelligence. Being different and right is what you are looking for. Good luck in your search.

You're spot on, Gary. That is exactly what boca is looking for. But since I have already deleted what he said twice, I'm not going to give him the pleasure of seeing it repeated as a quote in your post.

He also restarted a bash Kruger thread last week after I had already closed it. Boca is on vacation right now. If he thinks he can run this board, it might be best if he never comes back.

I agree. It just makes me so mad when people get on here and bash bash bash. I will do my best to ignore!

It's easy, I just have bigitch on ignore and am carefull not to read people who quote him. No skin off his nose and none off mine!
