If Neb thought that they were up a point they wouldn't have thrown the ball in such a hurry so that they could throw up a hell mary of a shot to win it.
Differing opinions then, I would want to inbound the ball as quick as possible to an open man and not let OU set up. Still maintain, if Nebraska really thought it was a three, and wanted the clock stopped and shot reviewed, they would of called a TO (if they had one, can't remember).
As for the OU assistants...Its not like Neb gave them any time to find out if it was a 3 b/c they threw the ball in pretty fast.
The shot is called a three or two on the release and when the ball is in the air, not when the bucket is made. Trail official clearly demonstrated this.
And I don't know how it was at the stadium, but I do know that on t.v. they gave OU the 3 before taking it back and giving them a 2.
BOB addressed this, the scorer at the game goes by the official's signal. Sounds like the guy in the truck got a little ahead of himself.
And if you didn't notice...they reviewed the shot after the game was over to see if it was a 3 or a 2. By that time its too late if was a 2. So if they are going to review that shot at all...it shouldn't be after the game is over...it should have been immediately following that shot.
Agree, however, it can't be reviewed until a dead ball stoppage (per my understanding) and the end of regulation was the first stoppage. The peculiar part of that situation is if it had been ruled a three, Nebraska would not have been given those three seconds to tie...because you can't put that time back on the clock. Definitely something that may need to be addressed by the rules committee.
However, lost in the shuffle of this and for as much flack as the refs get in general, the right call in a tight situation was made. Props to them for that.
