One thing for sure, Dallas was a disaster. To be blunt, I flat out loathe the city of Dallas.

Couldn't agree more, Dallas doesn't need it at all, no one here would go (except me). Plus, I don't want to watch CBB in a football stadium, hate the new trend of putting games in venues like JerryWorld.

Every time I go to Dallas (OU Texas, etc) I can't wait to leave. Why do so many people there pop their collar and wear cowboy boots? That combination makes no sense.

I agree with everything said here. Dallas definitely sucked, but my gosh the AAC is a beautiful arena. The town couldn't care less about the tournament though.

KC is all about the support and the buzz. Whether you are in the P&L, the Crown Center, the Plaza or anywhere else, the Tournament is what people are talking about. It's just a lot of fun. Plus, the ticket market is usually pretty stout if you need to sell men's tickets to go see the OU women. The Sprint Center is also a better venue than the Ford Center, and the history of Municipal Auditorium definitely trumps the Myriad. Heck, women's tickets will be tough this year as long as the Huskers are still alive.

I have no problem with the current "2-KC, 1-OKC, 2-KC" format. It'll be interesting to see how they divide it up after the new sets of contracts are closed.

It just got lost in Dallas, wasn't a big event to the locals. AAC is a great arena, but the area around it is not as good as KC or OKC (and really wasn't when the tourney was there). Did like the weather and it being St. Pat's weekend in Dallas though.

The Ford is the weakest of the 3 men's arenas, but OKC has the best men's/women's setup, and to me Bricktown trumps P&L...at this point anyway.

The Sprint is up there with AAC, P&L is cool and closer to the arena than Bricktown, and local interest is great. As with football, KC weather sucks...40s and rain in the forecast.

This is the same, stupid whinefest that occurs on an annual basis. I am an OU fan who lives in KC. I have attended every Big 8/12 postseason tournament since 1988 that has been held here. The whole "home court" crap for MU, KU, K-State is way overblown and means little to nothing. OU won multiple post season titles in Kemper Arena (6 post season championships in Kemper Arena between 1979 and 2002) as well as other schools including Iowa St, Nebraska and Oklahoma St. In fact, Iowa St fans were the largest contingent when the tourney was held at Kemper Arena on many occasions.

OU has the 2nd best all time record in Big 12 play at 19-10 behind Kansas at 25-7. Of the last 5 tourneys held in KC since 2000, KU has only won once (in 2008) with OU winning 2 and OSU and ISU the other two.

KC has done a good job hosting the tournament for years with fantastic local support and interest. Tradition, central location and the dramatic upgrade in the venue as opposed to Kemper Arena has made Kansas City a legit anchor tenant. Personally, I think OKC does a good job and has a good environment along with a central location as well so rotation between the two cities makes sense. I'm not sure the local enthusiasm for the event is quite as high as it is in KC though.

To say that "homecourt" is so important, you must have a short memory considering MU won in OU's and Ok St's backyard last year beating Baylor in the final.

This. KC does it the best with OKC a close 2nd. Dallas was brutal. Been there, wouldn't go back.

Dallas wasn't nearly as bad as you people make it out to be. It's different then, say, OKC, b/c there is no Big 12 campus 15 minutes up the road. I also think the support in Dallas would be better now that Baylor and aTm are making some noise. It might not have been KC, but the support Dallas had was pretty comparable to the support OKC had, give or take.

I disagree. Football is the one sport that SHOULD be affected by the elements. I hate that all big games are played down south. Doesn't hurt OU all that much, but it really hurts the Big 10 teams that have to build their teams differently to get through November and December weather where they play most of their games. Wussification of America at it's finest.

I like the idea of rotating both basketball and football between as many cities as possible. I think when the games are rotated the host cities get excited and put out more effort for the games. Also, the locals get more excited. However, I feel that if the game is set one one place after a few years it will become mundane and routine. Just my thoughts.

Tickets for the KU/MU quarterfinal session on Thursday afternoon are currently going for $200 each, so your argument does have support. I'd like an apples-to-apples comparison eventually, with a strong OU and a strong osu juicing local interest. (OK, just a strong OU. Never a strong osu.)

There did seem to be more excitement in OKC about the tournament in 2007 compared to last year. Maybe it was the Thunder, who knows.

Looks like the prices of those tickets just went thru the floor. aTm, Nebraska, and Tech will have enough fans combined to maybe consume 1 section of the Sprint Center. It will be crimson and blue, which is just gross. I'd love to see KU lose to Tech, but it won't happen...

I take it you don't remember the 2006 Big 12 Championship?
You had to sit in snow drifts. It was about 12 degrees.
