That team is the biggest waste of talent I have seen since TMG and Tiny Gallon blessed the OU court.

They might be a bigger waste of Talent. I know they got further but they had more higher ranked talent than we did that year.

Will Kentucky fans accept Cal having great teams, losing everyone and then having bad teams? What if this continues to happen. I think they will fire the guy.

Actually, I think this year's UK team is a great example of how recruiting rankings don't always play out. They've got some talent that will develop, but none of those guys should be one and dones.

Well he's got another one of his one and done classes coming in next year so he'll be back.

Exactly. Talent and experience is what works.

This year's UK team was the best argument against the one-and-done system. UK losing like this is great for college basketball.

Well Alex Poythress, Archie Goodwin, and Willie Cauley-Stein all just announced that they're coming back next season.

And they're probably signing Randle tomorrow.

Soooo...I think they'll be okay.

They have a legit chance of going 40-0 next year :facepalm

That's my point: this season showed that normally, teams will need continuity. They can't just reload every year; they need development. If they go "40-0" next year, with a developed team, that's good coaching. College basketball needs more developed teams and less glorified McDonalds AA teams.

Did you catch the Grantland "Most Hated Players" bracket? The 80s, 90s, and early 2000s guys mattered in that; the more recent guys really didn't. I mean, who will care where MKG or Anthony Davis went to college in 3 years? Hell, I didn't even remember that Avery Bradley went to Texas until he emerged for Boston this year.

I'm assuming this is a joke. Obviously, they underachieved this year, but they'll be right back in the title hunt next year. Last year's group of freshmen were obviously better than this year's, but that team also had something else this team didn't - a terrific SENIOR (Darius Miller, who is now logging NBA minutes) who could help lead them.

Fire the guy? Um, no.

IF they get Randle and Andrew Wiggins, they will have the #1 player at all 5 positions in this year's recruiting class and the #2 player at 2 of those 5 positions. A clearly unprecedented class. Sure, this year's group underachieved a great deal, but they aren't firing Cal after a National Title and with that group coming in.

Even if Randle and Wiggins go elsewhere (and I'd bet they get at least 1 of the 2), they can start: Andrew Harrison at the 1, Aaron Harrison at the 2, Goodwin at the 3, Poythress at the 4, and Cauley-Stein at the 5 with a ridiculously loaded bench. Even after this year, I'd take my chances with that group.

I am not remotely joking. Will Kentucky fans accept these types of seasons on any kind of a regular basis even if they are mixed in with National Championship of final four seasons? Kentucky fans expect to win the SEC and go to the NCAA Tournament. I suspect their fans are as unreasonable as our football fans.

I was not remotely suggesting Cal would be fired this year. I was saying if he did this on a somewhat regular basis they would fire him. I did not write that very well.

Underachieved? They lost everyone from last years team. They did exactly what most should have expected

The inbounds play that Robert Morris used was sweet. I'm not sure any man D could stop that from being a good look

The thing is, Denver, it was one season. Of course their fans wouldn't accept this every year, but I promise you they will accept it every year after a National Championship title...especially if their next recruiting class is among the highest ranked in college basketball history. The program under Calipari's direction is the best in college basketball, even with this one-year blip.

I don't think OU fans would accept a 6-6 season in football following a National Championship. The fans would melt down. The sky would be falling. Joe C might accept it, Boren might accept but the fans would freak out. I bet if you read Kentucky message boards lots of fans are completely melting down.

I get that it is one season and that is why I said if it happens on a regular basis.

Kentucky is safely in the dance if Noel doesn't tear his ACL.

They are going to be STACKED next year.

This the lose of Noel is about the same as the injuries the 2009 football faced. Remember they went 7-5 in the regular season. only difference is Kentucky lost their post season game we won ours
