Khadeem Lattin

Let us step back and imagine that line of Lattin and Spangler..... yupp, that'll do

“He was the first person I talked to every morning for like the last three months"

“I picked Oklahoma because I feel like coach Kruger, he’s a genius and I like his plans for me,” Lattin told Scout.com. “His plan for me is solid. His vision of what I can be and what I am, matches up with my mom’s and coach Lucas’ and my own.”

Looks like Kruger can recruit just fine.

Is he signing in the early period??

great kid; elite defender and rebounder. High motor guy. Congrats on the pick-up. I can see him having an Ekpe Udoh like impact in the Big12 as he gets older and works on his offensive skill set.

I think this is a guy that really benefits from the new rules also. There will be more of a premium on long athletic guys who can defend without having to body up.

"How he fits: Coach Lon Kruger has a young player in Khadeem Lattin that makes his team and individual defense better immediately. Latin is a rim protector, shot blocker and rebounder on defense and a run-the-floor and drop-off pass-finisher on offense. Latin is a diamond that Kruger could shape and develop into another Sooners great. He has the potential to be talked about in the same sentence as Blake Griffin, Harvey Grant and the late, great Waymon Tisdale."

Ummm... Wow.

I can see some Harvey Grant in that kid. Nice pick-up.

I see that some of the resident "recruiting experts" are conspicuously absent from this thread, hmmm.....

Welcome aboard Mr. Lattin!!

Big Daddy Lattin of Texas Western, Don Haskins, Road to Glory, beat Kentucky, national championship fame.

I'm one of a few here who is old enough to remember Dave "Big Daddy" Lattin and his Texas Western (now UTEP) team. I saw them beat Kansas in double OT on their way to the title game against Kentucky, not in person on television.

Lattin was the starting center on that team. For some reason, likely his great hops and long arms, I thought he was taller than his listed 6' 6" frame. That was one of the most athletic teams I have ever seen, a special blend of hops, speed, quick hands and feet, and a desire to prove they were the best team in the country that year. Definitely a "Cinderella" story like no other!

I think he's signing early. I read an article that stated he was going to keep his recruiting open until late signing period, but then Kruger and OU were too much to wait. Which I assume means signing early, hopefully.

Reading about this was a great start to the weekend! On top of his athleticism, it sounds like he has a really good head on his shoulders. I feel like OU basketball continues to gain some momentum. Good stuff.

Nice to have talented future freshmen coming into the program and also filling the biggest need, woo hoo:clap :woot.

This story features his grandpa, David Lattin. I thought he was bigger than that. He played bigger at TWC (now UTEP). I also remember when he was drafted by the San Francisco Warriors when we lived out in the Bay Area. That was when Rick Barry played for them before he went to the ABA and the franchise moved from the Cow Palace in SF to Oakland and became the Golden State Warriors in the 70's (Barry came back to the Warriors around '74, FWIW, and they won the NBA in '75 with him and ex-Sooner Clifford Ray leading the way).

Also, FWIW, the guy in the movie "Glory Road," who played Lattin's teammate Harry Fluornoy, was Mehcad Brooks, son of ex-Sooner football star Billy Brooks.
