Kim honored by her peers

You know what I think about Kim Mulkey? She knows her job and she gets it done.

Her job isn’t to turn out citizens of the year and make sure everyone goes to Bible study.

It’s to win basketball games and coach young women how to play the game. Period.

Has she had bad eggs. Yes. So have we.

If I had to choose which coach I had to hire to win championships, it would be Mulkey.

And let me add, it isn’t even close.

As a player, not as a coach.

Not completely true. Part of her selection was as an assistant at Louisiana Tech for 15 years. If she had not been inducted in 2000, you really think she would not be in by now?

I don't think she will ever be recognized as a coach.

What makes you say this? I mean, I know you think you know EVERYTHING there is to know about women's basketball, so I'm intrigued. Honestly. You would think she'd be in by now, she's done more than SC has, so it is a good question.

She has made enemies throughout the realm. Her behavior is one thing that is thought to be unprofessional. More than one has commented on it. Her attitude is all about "me," as opposed to growth of the sport, trying to help women's basketball, the support of the sport. Women's sport has had to overcome odds, and her image doesn't help.

There was a time when I thought there was no way Lauren Cox would choose Baylor. I now understand why she went there. She and Kim Mulkey have a lot of similarities. Cox is borderline dirty. Don't let the long blonde hair and blue eyes fool you!

Once again, Mulkey's failed coaching has cost her team. Think about it.

Several of you claim she is such a great coach, and yet by some "miracle", year after year after year they fail to get far in the tournament. Six straight years in a row now they can't even reach the final four. And supposedly with such great recruiting classes. Well either the recruiting is bad or the coaching. Take your choice.

No doubt about it: She is way, way overpaid. :ez-roll:

They win at home - with home cooking officiating - but have a horrible record after that. That is why KM is afraid to play on the road in non-conference.

She not only cheats at recruiting, but also cannot coach well enough to win without officiating help year after year. Cox is a dirty player. She should have fouled out 10 minutes before she did tonight. Did everyone else see the rough, dirty, over the back on the out of bounds play earlier in the 4th quarter. She shoves, pushes, etc.

Yes, Cox is up with the dirtiest Hypocrite U players in just 2 short years. I had absolutely no clue she was like this while she was in high school and being recruited. Complains after every call. It’s almost like Kim has created a 6’4” cry baby! She should have fouled out much earlier. But she’s been consistent...like this all season long.

The most popular team in the US won again. Of course, it did not help Baylor to lose their star guard. But, they never had sympathy for us.

They do underachieve given the stars that they recruit.

I'm reminded of the commercial: is it real or is it Memorex? We have difficulty in the conference with Baylor, Texas (not that much), and Texas A&M. Yet, with the exception of one title run, A&M was pretty weak in the NCAAs. Baylor just doesn't reach as high as they should with their stars. Is it that the national officials don't give them the calls as the Big Twelve does?

I didn't read the linked article about Mulkey's award. Was it the Charles Manson / Susan Atkins Memorial "Character Counts" Award? :D

Big 12 refs are intimidated by Mulky, so she gets a lot of calls during conference play. The tournament starts and she doesn't get the calls anymore...Therefore they go home early.....again!!!! And yes, Cox is a dirty player.....I've seen it all year long.....

UCLA beat both Baylor and Texas. Oregon State eliminated Baylor a few years ago as well.

I saw enough of the UCLA/Texas game to see that the senior Texas guards who had been so dominant in Big Twelve play were completely outplayed by UCLA. As the tone for the game was set, Texas turned the ball over on nearly every possession. UCLA jumped out to a lead on fast break points.
