Kruger known for righting programs, running clean ship

I'm no happier to see Kreuger at OU than he apparently is to be here. I would much rather to have seen a hire that came for something besides only the money. Other than Smart or the Butler coach or some other younger coach with enthusiasm, I would prefer Terry Evans or to have kept Jeff Capel.

Quick question... If you were extremely happy and well paid at your current job, what would make you accept another job offer? Would a pay increase sway you one way or the other?

And if that pay increase happened to double your salary, don't you think it would make you "happy to be there"?

The fans seem to be criticizing Kruger for his honesty. I mean, I understand that it's rare to find a candid college coach, but seriously? How does it make sense to criticize a guy for making a sound financial decision for him and his family?

I never understand this reasoning. I am paid very sell at my job and enjoy working there and the only reason to leave would be to pay. On the other hand, if someone offered me enough money to leave, I would continue to work my hardest for my new employer. The only way we were getting an established head coach was to throw a bunch of money at them. I am just glad that we did it.

I'm not disagreeing with any of your points - I'd do the same thing if I were Krueger. I just think he's made it plain that the ONLY reason he's at OU is because of the money. That pretty much turns me off. I don't think we need to be hoping for any FFs or NCs anytime soon and I think a younger, more enthusiastic and exciting coach would be a better pick. IMO, this was nothing but a "safe" pick for Joe C. - no guts . . . .

Then you obviously missed all his quotes on the other things he likes about OU and the region. You are just reading what you want. OU needed a coach to "right the ship and run a clean program." I am not sure that there were many better candidates to do just that. And frankly, a safe hire is exactly what OU needs right now. I'm not sure how paying anyone 2.2m shows no balls bit took a lot of balls for Joe C. to go out on a limb and convince the regents to put a 2.2m investment into OU basketball.

PS it's Kruger not Krueger
