Of all of the players I would not want guarding me, LaNesia is now at the top of the list. She has always been a good defender but she made some freshman mistakes early. She has gotten a lot more consistent on the defensive end in the last few weeks, even though offensively she has not been as productive.

I agree with you Norm but I thought she could score the basketball, at the D1 level a lot of players are fast and skilled. This is not high school basketball when she could just out run everyone and make lay-ups. LaNesia has not shown she can consistently make a jump shot she needs to expand her game to have major success at the D1 level. My opinion.

I couldn't agree more. Early in the year against lesser competition she was very good at attacking the rim. Against better competition she has found the going much tougher. As you suggested, if she can use that quickness to get inside and start knocking down the 15ft jump shots, it will certainly help her get more minutes. I don't know that she will ever be a starter but she could be very effective coming off the bench to give a defensive spark and perhaps put a few points on the scoreboard as well.

That's a very accurate statement. I believe she will have to put in about 3 to 4 hours everyday this summer to work herself into the starting lineup. She as the potential to be a starter but the desire is up to her. During the summer months kids run home and do not work on their skill set to get better. I hope she is not one of those players.

It was interesting Saturday. When Sherri put both Tiana and Lanesia in at the same time, our scoring almost disappeared.

Two things often happen in that situation:

1. They cannot seem to find a way to score much. In fact at one point Saturday we went over 4 minutes without a point when both were on the floor.

2. They - at least at times - have turnover problems. The TO's may get charged to the receiver, but are ultimately caused by careless/reckless passes. I'm sure this also frustrates Sherri, but both have skills that could be very important to the team and they will never get the issues solved without some playing time.

I am not certain Lanesia will never start. Perhaps that is true, but she does have special speed that could be very valuable as she gains experience and gets things under control. She is still very early in her career.

Well stated!

Exactly! She's just a freshman and may take her longer to adjust to the D1 game since she played at a smaller school. But, like Gioya last year, you can see she's got a lot of talent.

Without a doubt she can play just want more on the offensive end of the court.
