She is planning to take official visits to UCONN, Tenn, ND, Louisville, and Baylor.

I still think OU is a possibility. Lauren has expressed the desire not to play post. At OU, she certainly wouldn't. Indeed, she would have a post who would free her up, take the focus of the defense off her. She can't be on the first national title team at UConn, Baylor, Tennessee, or Notre Dame.

syb,
OU is out.
No official visit, no signature.
It's really pretty simple.
We got Mulkey and Dungee that's it.
Starting winning the big 12 again and getting back to the final four.
Then maybe we have a shot at the Lauren Cox's of the world.

I think that implies that Lauren isn't intelligent enough to see what can happen. I want to see if she is. I would only be disappointed if she were to go to Baylor. It would greatly diminish her in my evaluation.

You're right, Cox is not coming to OU. If we would have finished high in the rankings last year we might have gotten a visit. I think that is hurting us with other top players as well. I'm guessing she goes to Baylor because she is very close to her family but, Louisville is the only team that would surprise me.

Let's assume that Lauren is your daughter. Forget that you went to OU. I think her mother went to SMU?

You live about eighty miles from Baylor, which is nice if you want to see the games. But, you have seen that two different players on two different national title teams indicated that they were not given respect (or told the truth, or whatever) by Mulkey and/or Baylor. Both now harbor some bitterness. You also have a national press that has written about Baylor in a rather negative way. Is this where you want your daughter to go? Do you trust Mulkey--or Baylor?

I can see someone who has no alternatives, or who has no knowledge of the history of Mulkey going to Baylor. Lauren has alternatives. Good alternatives.

If winning a national title or two is all she wants, Geno is the best in the nation at that. He's won titles with a lot of different players. He seems to be a good man, and his players seem to respect him, long after they have gone.

Notre Dame is a fine institution, and Coach McGraw is an excellent coach who beat Geno three times in a row. If you want a good academic reputation, it has one. Usually, it will be in the vicinity of a national title.

I am curious, however. You have been on two U16 teams with two OU players, none from Baylor. You watched Nancy Mulkey completely destroy two teams in the State Tournament, one of which beat you rather badly. Without Nancy, they weren't doing well. But, she made them into a very dominant team. You don't see how Lauren could operate on a team that had Nancy Mulkey in the middle?

Then, there is that statement that you wished to help a program get to where it had not been. Unless you are serious about Louisville (please tell me that this is a joke), the others have won it all.

I can see Lauren at Notre Dame or UConn. I must admit that I question the decision that anyone makes to play for Mulkey.

I'm really surprised to see Baylor on the list. To each his/her own, but I definitely wouldn't want to play for Kim Mulkey.

Mulkey has shown she will go to battle for her team and players, regardless of how it makes her look. She will stand up for any of her players on any platform. Most coaches will say what they think to the local media they feel comfortable with.. But Mulkey will do it at any time; get reprimanded or fined and not think twice bout it. That could make playing for her enticing.

I personally would not play for her or want anyone I knew to play for her. But I can see why players would want to.

By now, they must realize that she only stands up for them as long as it benefits her. Then, they are toast.

Cox doesn't have to worry about her coach. They will all be good to her for what she can bring to the team. Geno would challenge her more and the decision she has to make there is does she want to rise above the limits she sets for herself.

It is natural that she would have Baylor on her short list whether she intends to go there or not. Typically players like her look nationally but usually also to a strong team in the area.

I don't think she will go to OU. Be fantastic if she did. For whatever reason the Sooner recruiting has improved recently. That is the only shot we have.

I think Cox has a really close friend playing for Baylors football team. At Baylor she would also get to play with a lot of young players who could be really good. I think over all the friendship she has built with Katie Lou, and the fact that she would probably be the new Breanna Stewart at Uconn and win 4 championship Uconn will be here school...

I think it's Notre Dame or Louisville with an outside chance of UConn.
