I read this in the other forum and wasn't sure if anyone on here know about this yet. SC has confirmed, but not clear on the reason why yet.

Good news is that leaves an extra scholarship position for class of 2020, bad news is we have one less athletic guard and have no other choice at point than Tatum or perhaps Murcer..

This is like deja vu. Lemon comes in from JC and is handed the starting point guard spot. The first 4 games she scores 10 points and 3.75 assists per game and suddenly her minutes are cut in half and he performance tanks. Now gone.

Sometimes I wonder if Sherri also has a point system for who gets to play.

She was also throwing the ball away and had no interest in playing defense. During every game, you saw Sherri talk to her when she pulled her, trying to get her to rein in her game. I don't think she liked discipline.

Who on this team has a interest in playing defense? We can’t say what happen, someone said she had a death in the family? Maybe she wants to be closer to home? It’s not a Kam vs Sherri thing right without knowing details....

But you can always count on Sybarite who acts like there’s a shrine of coach Coale that you worship somewhere, to make it seem like it’s the players fault.

Ana could also play the point. She can drive/penetrate and pass when not forcing the issue. Also getting her off the wing might reduce he shot selection beyond the arc which has been abominable this year (15/52 .288%) down from her career average of .298.

Ana is not a good perimeter shooter yet she still still takes 4.68 shots BTA a game. Fortunately it is down from the 6.18 she averaged her first 2 years. Ony Tatum shoots worse BTA. Ana shoots .516 inside the arc. the .516 vs .288 shooting percentages should tell the coaches and Ana something significant. Streak shooter be damned. Ana needs to play to her strengths and amend her shoot selection. Also playing the point might actually slow her down and get her to play more within herself instead of trying play to much hero ball.

Syb is a little off on facts.

Lemon has 25 assists and 17 turnovers (not good). Tatum has 28 assists and 20 turnovers (not any better). Lemon is quicker and stays in front of a ball handler better than Tatum. I coached at high school and military levels and I didn't see evidence of not wanting to play defense.

I'm just weary of seeing players not improve and some suddenly crater. The high level of turnovers by all of the experienced players other than Robertson is unexcusable.

Whatever the reason, Lemon was an athletic option with some offense, which Tatum had not shown she posseses as of yet. I do enjoy her no look passes and she does well on her assists when she focuses, hopefully we see more of the Tatum against LSU than we did the previous games, then there shouldn't be an issue. We do need to get some height this spring! And not a project. Get a good juco post like OSU did in Mack!

I watched the perimeter defense break down constantly with someone driving on Lemon, quite often followed by her being taken out of the game with a discussion before she sat down.

Lot of potential. I didn't see a lot of together.

Tatum ran a much better game against LSU than anything we have seen this year.

Maybe son Coale wanted her gone?
I can't remember, what is junior Coale's area of expertise. Is it defense? From watching him during games, it looks like his job is to stay out of the way and let mommy orchestrate.

Due to some bias, some people assume that Sherri can do no right, that she is a control freak who makes her players dance to some drummer. I think there are coaches like that, and Sherri may have some of those attributes.

But, I think that Sherri has a tendency to listen to her players. The departures of Shaina and Kamryn may well have been initiated by players. There appeared to be some friction with Dungee. I heard nothing negative about Mulkey when she left for Rice (which happens to be near home and hometown friends, which may have played a role.). I have considerable faith in those who reported that Shaina and Kamryn developed some internal friction, and that players had a major role.

If you will remember, Sherri did give options to a player who was accused of theft, one of which was to get squared away, and she could return. She chose to transfer. I have the impression that she will go to the limits, but that other player's opinions may demonstrate internal problems. She may be intolerant of that.

Man if kamryn had issues after being here for just one semester, she may very well be the type of person that just doesn't really fit in very many places. I mean three schools in three years doesn't look good for any player. what surprises me is I thought SC was very selective about who she took on that was not coming out of high school, and I thought she would have done better research into the type of person kam was and if she would fit in or not. Looks like she didn't.

I think that Lemon was a quick fix. Sometimes, you give a person a chance. It may work. Some people step up to an opportunity. Some people don't.

Similarly, some people fall out of touch with their passion, yet they can't recognize when to move on.

You have a choice. You can always find fault. You can also look at what has been accomplished in the past and give it the opportunity to rebuild that. It is obvious that we are not #1-5 as we were. But, you might also notice that there has been an uptick in the talent that is coming. It would have been nice if we could have gotten some interior help this year. Maybe we had too much hope for Bloom. But, Llanusa, Williams, Veitenheimer, Robertson, Gregory, and maybe Lampkin, Scott, and Tot appear to be a step up from the recruits we had been getting. One good interior player, and we might be very, very competitive. I wonder if we really have a shot at Wolfenberger who seems to have superstar written all over her.

Sometimes, it's nice just to support your team. I happen to think someone who has taken us to the Final Four three times deserves respect. Apparently, she knew what she was doing. Can you name one All-American who was here before she developed 2002? In our first 22 years, we had two NCAA appearances, made it to the Sweet Sixteen once (86). She took us to nineteen (19) straight appearances. Prior to Sherri, 2 appearances in 22 years. Since she arrived, been in 19 of 23 years. Is there a difference there?

If your benchmark is just making the NCAA tournament then your point is valid. However if your benchmark is 6 Sweet 16's, 3 final four's, 6 regular season conference championship, 4 conference tournament championships and 12 NCAA tournament appearances in 12 seasons (1999/20-2010/11) averaging 23.8 wins then 1 Sweet 16, 7 NCAA appearances, zero regular season conference championship and zero conference championships in 8 seasons (2011/12-2018/19) averaging 19.1 wins is most definitely not acceptable.

It is not unlike UConn going 8 years and making only 1 Final Four and winning no NC's. By UConn's standard that performance would not be acceptable. Sherri set the standard and Sherri needs to meet that standard on a continuing basis.

So, let's assume that you had the following:

22 seasons---2 NCAA appearances (one Sweet Sixteen)
12 seasons---8 NCAA appearances (two Sweet Sixteens)

Is that sufficient improvement?
Is it that the middle should have been at the end?

11 seasons---11 NCAA appearances (four Sweet Sixteens, 3 Final Fours)

I really don't care a whole lot of what SC done in the past..For me its the last few years that has been in a steady decline
