Lemon off team

So, let's assume that you had the following:

22 seasons---2 NCAA appearances (one Sweet Sixteen)
12 seasons---8 NCAA appearances (two Sweet Sixteens)

Is that sufficient improvement?
Is it that the middle should have been at the end?

11 seasons---11 NCAA appearances (four Sweet Sixteens, 3 Final Fours)

Assuming makes you know what out of both of us. We are dealing with facts and the facts are as I presented initially. The benchmark has been set. It is what it is. Learn to live with it not attempt to manipulate them for some hypothetical reason. I learned long ago when to accept reality and avoid making an a** out of myself in a dream world. Hopefully someday you will learn the same.

Ah. But, you know who set the benchmarks. And, you know what was here before.

Unfortunately you point the finger at Joe Castiglione. I also know what OU football was under Schnellenberg and Blake and what happened to them. In their regard the action was quick. Sherri has earned and has been given almost a decade to rectify her programs in ability to recruit and compete at a high level.

Joe should have supported Sherri and given her ample opportunity to turn her ship around. But in my and thousands of other OU WBB fans case that no longer attend games we are saying Joe 8 years is enough her time is up and you need to take action or get off the pot.

I have been to too many OU WBB games in recent seasons when there were about 500-750 actual butts in the seats not the 2,000-3,000 plus reported. To me he is not doing his job as he should regarding WBB. But that is JMHO although I know many that post here agree.

This catastrophe has been germinating since 2007...during the winning at a high level years. The program was blessed (miraculously) with some really phenomenal players who have winning attitudes and possessed natural athletic ability and strength...enough to win at a high level without a progressive development plan/implementation and strong game time coaching. They passed on that attitude to the players that followed them, but it has slowly but surely dwindled away. The "winning ancestors" voices are no longer existent in the program. SC, IMHO, is really great with the theatrics of coaching when the team is up by 20+. She's also very good at sitting with her arms folded with a baffled look when they are down by 20+. Maybe the powers that be will decide they want to try and allow someone else to try and rebuild a winning program. It's not easy. You've gotta have all cylinders clicking (chemistry) and it takes a little time and special gifts/talents. But until then, we will see more of the same mediocre to less than mediocre teams.

From the Transcript:

Kamryn Lemon’s short stint with Oklahoma is over.

The junior guard is no longer with the team, OU coach Sherri Coale confirmed, after being recruited to fill the role of Shaina Pellington, who left the Sooners after last season.

Coale called Lemon’s departure a team matter and said she left by choice — OU did not ask her to leave. Coale had no further comment.

Lemon was available during OU’s upset over LSU on Dec. 7 but she did not play. She averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in seven games before her departure, with five starts.

After transferring from Odessa (Texas) Junior College, she was expected to play upward of 15 minutes per game as a point guard who could run the offense and be a scoring threat.

Pellington’s profile was similar at OU and it helped her win Big 12 freshman of the year in 2018. She transferred to Arizona and is sitting out this season due to NCAA rules.

Man if kamryn had issues after being here for just one semester, she may very well be the type of person that just doesn't really fit in very many places. I mean three schools in three years doesn't look good for any player. what surprises me is I thought SC was very selective about who she took on that was not coming out of high school, and I thought she would have done better research into the type of person kam was and if she would fit in or not. Looks like she didn't.

Her first school was a community college. I imagine the move to Odessa Jr. College was a move up. After Junior college, if she wanted to play basketball she had to transfer.

She is a kid whose father just died. We don't know what was going on. Did any of you go to college? Did you feel lost? Did you switch colleges? We do not know her and we do not know her situation. Why speculate....especially in the negative?

Yes…

No…

No.

I'm so tired of anytime anyone has a remotely negative opinion about a player on this part (wbb) of the forum they are attacked. Not the same thing on the men's board at all. Everyone is so sensitive on here. Merely pointing out transferring 3 times in less than 3 years doesn't look good. I'm entitled to speculate if I want damnit. I hate that SC's answer to replacing a transfer was with a player that lasted half a semester, that's all.

And yes I went to college, yes I also lost a father while attending, and no I didn't pack up and back out of a commitment, bc I knew that wasn't what he would have wanted. So, yes, I can speak from a similar experience.

Dare we say she was a Lemon?!

Sorry couldn’t resist. Carry on.

Maybe she didn't like Colton and Sherri would have none of that
