Let's get back to discussing OUR team

I take it your a pretty young person. KU is a much much bigger OU rival in basketball than KU and almost equal to OSU in bb. In fact I hate KU basketball much more than OSU bb, but you'd have to be watching OU bb from the early/mid 80's to understand the rivalry.

I realize that OU/KU were rivals in basketball in 1985 in the Big 8. But this is 2010 and we now play Texas and OSU twice in the Big 12.

We were big rivals with Nebraska in football in 1985 also, but now OU/Texas and Bedam are the rivalry games, not Nebraska. Things change.

Carl Henry
Danny Manning
Kevin Pritchard
Scooter Berry
Darnell Valentine
Jacque Vaughn
Sherron Collins
Tyrel Reed
Wilt Chamberlain

Need I go on? I can probably list 50 players or more from the 70's to current day.

Now those are some reasons to hate KU. I would add the Morris twins to that list.

We've only played Notre Dame 1 time since the 60's, but we still hate them.

I can promise you, most older KU fans feel the same way about OU in basketball. Joe Holliday, who was Roy Williams top assistant at KU and now at UNC is an OU grad. When he was coaching at KU the AD at KU told him to take off his O ring because nothing with Oklahoma on it was allowed on KU's campus. When Sampson left for Indiana, Turgeon turned down the job because he was afraid if he took the OU job it was one of the few jobs that could prevent him from ever being considered the coach at KU. The only other jobs on that list are KSU and MU. For the same reason, I'm glad Turgeon didn't take the job because I wouldn't want to root for a squawk (however, I think our program would be quite a bit better than it is now).

If you don't consider them a rival and want to cheer for KU basketball then by all means do it. However, you can't change my mind about it...I'll go to my grave hating KU basketball and Notre Dame football.

Turgeon's a virgin clap clap clap clap

That got him riled up back in the day.

He was such a pud when he played in Lawrence. I loved Tubbs beating KU in Lawrence and cutting down the nets. I'd love to see video of that if it exists.
