Who would want OUr job right now? Who could we possibly entice to come here?

throw some names around that we might have a LEGIT shot at.

would we go after a big name assistant? (someone from a big staff)

a young up and comer? (a guy like Brad Stevens....not him specifically but you know what I'm saying)

someone who has been around and been successful but never on the elite big time level? (ala Ronnie Arrow at South Alabama...taken multiple schools to the NCAA tourney and has a TON of juco ties and experience)

Who would you actually WANT? Gillespie might be the biggest NAME that we could possibly attract but is that realistic?

I'll quit my job if offered. Let Joe C know I am interested.

Let's just start posting our own resumes on this board, and then we will vote on the next coach.

Ronnie Arrow was my thought a few years ago. Truth is he's getting along in years and while his style really would attract some kids - I am not so sure he has the energy left in the tank to go full steam ahead like would be necessary.

I agree with Joe C. about taking a young guy. You get some money to play with when they do well, have a coach who will usually relate to the recruits well, and you usually get a guy who will essentially live in the office for a few years. There are just some risks involved.

IMO you take a style coach like Anderson who is young and emphasizes working with athletes vice relying on having the best all-around basketball players.

randy bennett?
dave rose?
kevin stallings?

i don't think any of them would come, but i am throwing some fresh meat out there.

I do like Scott Sutton...but I don't think he'd be the right hire.

We need an overly aggressive style coach. I'd like an old John Chaney clone.

If they go for a young up-and-comer (on the cheap):

Gregg Marshall of Wichita State, formerly of Winthrop.

If they go for a top assistant coach:

Joe Holladay -- Roy Williams top assistant at KU and UNC; he's an OU grad and played basketball in the 60's.

If they go for a proven coach:

Tubby Smith

I just don't see tubby smith leaving Minnesota. The guy is nearly 60 years old and I don't think he's going to want to relocate again unless it is for a marquee job. Also I think Minnesota has made some promisesto him re: upgrading their facilities.

Scott is a laid back dude, that is for sure, that having been said, I think that he'd recruit the exact kinds of players that you have said that you'd want at OU.

Nolan Richardson might be able to spice things up!

LMAO at somebody saying Doug Wojick

I thought the same thing.

He hasn't exactly lit it up at Tulsa.

I really thought they could have a breakthrough year this season, with Jordan and Udhoh as seniors, but they totally fell flat.

On topic, I know someone would love the job and probably do great... Billy Gillespe.

I just can't see Joe C. hiring him given the rumors of his reputation as guy who likes a good party.

Billy G. would be a great hire, but he'd probably be a ticking time bomb as well.

Not Gillepsie. LNC would be empty every night as we beat a team 54-46.

The only big name that would come would be Tim Floyd. He did very well in the Big 8 before and is coaching UTEP now. I very seriously doubt Joe C. would hire him 'cause he has Mayo's taint on him, but he is my realistic number 1 if Capel resigns.

In all honesty, if Capel resigns, Joe C. will likely hire some little known young hard worker.
