Now that the Capel era is officially over, I want to talk about a guy that I'd like to see get a real look at interviewing for the job.

Terry has played at OU, has been an assistant at OU, and has done well at all of his other stops. He brings a "Tubb's" style of play that would, to me at least, be attractive to players. Additionally, he is very familiar with the OKC area and let's face it, there ARE good players that come out of this state. Additionally, he has ties to former teammates ("cough" Jeff Webster, "cough" Skeeter Henry) that would also to permit us to recruit the Dallas area more effectively.

I've thrown out the pros, what are the cons?

The cons are he has no D1 head coaching experience.

Thats it.

his teams would be beaten like red-headed stepchildren and he'd be fired within 3 years.

I think it would take too much time for Evans to recruit to his system, and for him to acclimate to the Big 12/D1. If our program wasn't so down, maybe. As it is, it needs to be somebody with a different skill set.

Joe took a chance with Capel, he only had a year or two of experience at the D1 level, it didn't work out so well......

I don't think Joe can take another chance on an unproven (D1) commodity.

because you need much better recruits to compete in an offensive-oriented style than you do in a defensive one - mainly because you're relying upon their offensive skills more and offensive skills that translate to college well are limited to the top 20-25 recruits yearly. After that you have the athletes and then the ballers.

you can keep guys together and teach it to them...but that takes years that he won't have and in the meantime we'll get smashed in conference.

All good responses...wil lbe curious to see the "wow" factor. If it happened this quickly, Joe already has somebody ready to go. Remember, Kelvin "left" so Joe was unable to prepare.
