LNC court makeover

I think the whole oval lower floor of the LNC should be a big "O"

Get rid of the Nebraska-red seats! ;)

Nebraska red is probably a little more accurate. Regardless of what color they are, it's the wrong one and they have needed to go for a long time, period.

The house that Alvan Adams built deserves crimson seats.

Does anyone know how it came to be for the two shades of red in the first place? And which came first...the dark red or the bright red? Whatever, it needs to fixed and with all crimson. Minor league stuff for this to have happened for whatever reason.

The colors of the seats have been the same since the LNC was opened in 1974 or 75. The darker seats have cloth covering cushions but the backs are the exact same red that all the other seats have without cushions. I'm also pretty sure these seats are the exact same color as the chairbacks at OMS after the new west upper deck was adding in 74 or 75 as well. There was a section in the upper deck and section below the deck for donors and I'm pretty sure they were the same red as LNC seats. They were changed out when the East Side upper deck was built to match the seats on the east side.

Minor league stuff for sure! Once the LNC is renovated they will be gone but not before. LAST on the priority list! We need to determine how to fill it up first then no one will ever notice the color.

Wrong on many levels. The darker chairs (which are crimson - our school color and the color of the tshirts that fans wear to the games) are dark all over - not just on the cushion. Look it up on google. It looks so amateurish and accentuates the empty seats.

There is no chance that the LNC is full for every game. Fix this cosmetic eyesore if people like you insist that the LNC is fine.

Some of you people amaze me.

When is it going to be ok to build a nice 8k arena that is made for basketball that fits the size of our butts- in-the-seats fanbase. Those of you worried about the 3 big games per year that sell more than 10k (most of those games are now being falsely sold-out with $10 supplemental seats) then the solution is jack up the prices for those games in the premium seats to make up the cost for those games.

EVERY other game will have a better atmosphere - the players, recruits and TV audience will think more highly of our team and its a win/win.

If we can't get a new arena then downsize the LNC and make it work.

We have over 10k season ticket holders most years.

If you go to an 8k stadium. Very few regular people will be getting tickets.

Those that buy and come to 3 games a year will still have 4k tickets.

And we will have close to 10 or 11 k in SEASON ticket sold for 2014-2015

8 may have been a tad bit low - I get frustrated on this issue. But I think 9.5 would be about perfect. Nothing wrong with creating a little demand. I would much rather see 4k at some of the non-con in a capacity of 8-9.5 than in the current set up.

I really like the idea of having some sort of box style seating with tinted windows like at Pitt to appeal to Joe-donor who buys but never shows.

And you are not in the business of running the economic aspect of a college basketball program. You have no concrete data supporting your assumption that the LNC capacity needs to be reduced by 20-33%. We need to all display a little patience and wait until it is announced what the university will do to LNC. Joe C. will make a through analysis of our basketball facility and make a solid recommendation when the analysis and funding plan is complete.

Making any significant reduction in LNC seating capacity is enconomic lunacy. Most likely is a renovation of LNC that will focus on fan amenities that will enhance the game experience. Their approach for LNC will be very similar to the plan they are implementing for Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium.

I would expect this to result in some minor reduction (1,000-1,500) in capacity with the introduction of more quality seating and 12-20 suites, more and better restrooms and concessions at a cost in the $125-175 million.

A renovated LNC might add 500-1,000 butts in the seats for a year or two but long term the only thing that impacts attendance is winning. I've had seat in LNC since it opened and when we have really good teams and attendance LNC can be a very intimidating place to play.

The reality is when you are not winning attendance will wane. Listen to the Thunder fans complain about Scott Brooks because he cannot win it all. Let the Thunder win only 40-45 games a year instead of 55-60 games and there will be thousands of no shows and a loss of hundreds of season ticket sales.

As disappointing as the attendance at games is today Kruger is putting a better product on the court and attendance is moving upward. It is now better than the WBB attendance and that was not the case 4-6 years ago. Back to back S16 teams is the best cure for poor attendance

Start your own thread about attendance. This thread is now strictly for seat color *****ing

I'm sorry but you're wrong here. I have season tickets to men's and women's games. The seats at the bottom that were added a few years are different and yes, those frames are the darker red but they amount to a few hundred seats at the bottom. The cushioned seats on the east side all have the brighter red on the backs and the cushions are darker and that's what you see.

There is nothing wrong with LNC. If built today it would not be designed as it is now. But there were many during that time that were designed just as LNC. If people do not attend OU basketball games because of LNC, they are not OU basketball fans! PERIOD!

I'm with big. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that the backs are crimson too.

The only way to really solve this debate is for some one, cough cough gary cough cough, to go with some crayons and take some pictures

You can plainly see the backs of these seats are red like ALL the other seats (except the temps on the bottom). You can plainly see the cushions on these seats.

You can also plainly see who attends the games at LNC and who doesn't!
