I didn't understand the all out effort to get the foreign kid from rice and the pursuit of a couple other kids, with the talk all about needing someone that could shoot the 3 with consistency. Then, we sign Ty even though we have a number of wings returning younger than he is, purportedly because he could shoot the 3.

Now, I get it. I had assumed that CJ, Cam and shepard would improve and be able to knock down shots. Lon saw that they couldn't and knew he needed a shooter. Unfortunately, to this point, ty hasn't been the answer.

You could make points about a lot of things related to the RI game, but in the end, I agree with Toby Rowland. We just can't shoot the ball. 4-20 from the 3, a complete inability to finish at the rim and missed free throws.

Early in the year, Manek and trae were concealing this team flaw. I'm not sure this team, as it is currently configured, can fix this issue.

When trae and Brady fell off from the outside, he tried to focus on drive and dish, but the officiating sort of stopped this and the interior assists, and the kids just didn't hit the outside shots.

I didn't understand what Lon was doing, but it seems clear now.

No real good shooters on this team other than TY and he showed to very much off or on.
Lon if he sticks around will have his hands full trying to fix this..may be time to just start all over again. If all or any of the current players want to leave I wouldn't try and talk them out of it. I don't know much about how recruiting is going but from what hear..not so good.
I think Lon would now if his son was given the job but surly OU will not do that????

0% chance his son is retained. Crutch would be the only one with a chance.

Recruiting is actully going pretty well but we don’t have a lot of scholarships to work with, especially for this year. Trae’s scholarship will probably go to a grad transfer. 2019 class is looking to be a great one, though.

Trae shot 36% from 3. CJ shot 36.5%. Manek shot 8%. Kam, in a down year, shot 33%.

The problem isn't that they don't shoot well from . The problem is that they shoot extremely well early, leading everyone to believe they were outstanding shooters, and not very well down the stretch.

If they'd been consistent in their shooting all season long we wouldn't be saying now that they can't shoot. They can. They just didn't yesterday.

I'm not sure how you can say that? This year's class is essentially one guy plus a backup. We have one (albeit very good) commit for 2019. This roster needs a huge influx of talent, and it's not getting it.

The 2019 class has a chance to be special & it definitely needs to be.

Nothing is set until they sign the dotted line but I would not be surprised if we land 3 4 Star players in the ‘19 class. That’s about as good as ou can hope for unless we start bagman recruiting like the caliparis and pitinos.

I think we were good enough from 3 from a talent standpoint. The problem to me is that we were not good enough elsewhere and we did not run an offense to help. Much easier to defend the 3 line when you are not as concerned about guys driving and finishing. Our best guy at that was not a big threat from 3. You are not going to shoot as well when teams are locking down the 3 line more and you are not shooting in rhythm.

This is what it looks like if you can shoot BTA. Kansas as team shot .403, Mykaheiliuk .456, Graham .411, Newton .405 and Vick .367. Those 4 were 330/795 for .415.

The .359 we shot BTA would have been great 10-15 years ago. But for a team that builds its offense on shooting BTA to only be capable of finishing in a tie for 4th in the league shooting BTA tells me they are trying to run the wrong scheme because their players don't have the needed skill set.
