Here is the line-up for the opening weekend:

Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg*
Marv Albert/Steve Kerr*
Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery*
Gus Johnson/Len Elmore*
Kevin Harlan/Reggie Miller/ Dan Bonner
Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel
Tim Brando/Mike Gminski
Spero Dedes/Bob Wenzel

Pairings with an asterisk will be doing the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight.

The Final Four will be Nantz, Kellogg and Kerr.

Gus and Bill Raftery should be paired together calling the Final Four instead of Nantz/Kellogg. They make such sweet music together....

Cue the GusJ flamers.

The fact we didn't have Gus calling the Butler-Duke final last year and Haywood's last shot is a crime against humanity.

It is a shame. Gus probably would've been standing on top of the press row table as that shot was on it's way down toward the goal.

BTW, is this Marv Alberts' first year to call the dance for CBS? I can't remember him doing it in the past.

Is it also too much to ask to get Gus assigned to Kansas' probable second round upset?

Maybe Marv Albert will put on a bra and panties for the elite 8 round. :ez-laugh:

Sorry, Marv, but you will never live that down.

First time we get Marv doing the Madness.

Also, Charles Barkley will be in studio. Score.

Gus Johnson must be assigned to BYU's region if they make the Sweet 16. I demand it...Jimmer is gonna drop 35 on Duke or somebody in the Elite 8 to send BYU to the Final 4, and I want Gus there to call it.

I disagree. If you've ever listened to him try to call boxing and MMA then you'd know why. Absolutely brutal.

Okay, I'll rephrase:

"Anyone who hates on Gus calling college basketball games is clearly lost."

Honestly not a huge fan of that either, but it's certainly more tolerable than his other work. I guess I just think the screaming and amateurish antics should be reserved for the color guy, not the PBP guy. That video of him and Raftery (who I love) is exhibit A. You can't even hear what they're saying because you've got both guys shrieking at the top of their lungs. Sounds kind of like Al and Jim shrieking at each other on the Animal.

I'll just agree to disagree then. As an announcer for what most people view as the most exciting sports event that is March Madness, IMO you want someone that is great at capturing the excitement of the game, big shot, big play, etc... And I think Gus fits that role perfectly.

I can see both sides. There's definitely merit in what you have to say. I guess it just comes down to what people like.
