Marquette's sophomore PG Reggie Smith did not report back from Christmas break, will transfer and probably be eligible come next December.

Capel should seriously consider going after him.

Is there a reason to believe he would be a dynamic impact player? Scout says that out of HS he had offers from Marquette, Miami (Fla), Indiana and DePaul. While that is a solid list it's not THAT impressive.

idk, but the fact that they're only recruiting one guy makes me feel confident.

Given the lack of a true pg over the last several seasons (with no disrespect intended to AJ and recognizing that TMG was extremely good - notwithstanding his issues), I would not mind seeing OU sign two pgs.

I understand what you're saying, Denver. But I would rather see OU sign a quality point guard and use the other scholarship on a two guard or wing. Heck, sign more than one if the ships are available.

With Cade gone next year, we're going to need another scorer on the perimeter. I think Newell and/or Blair will be fine as a back up at the point. And who knows, one or both may work hard and come back next year determined to take over that spot? I realize that appears to be a crap shoot at this juncture, which is why I'm for bringing in a PG with the goods to make an immediate impact. Still, I worry about having enough scorers in our back court with CD no longer around. Just like AJ from a year ago, I don't think any of us can fully appreciate what Cade has meant to the team until he's gone.

Any other year I'd agree with you, but with the holes we have, I'd rather have more bigs or a scoring wing.

Yeah this is what I think. Next year we'll have a junior pg and a player who is a pg/sg combo (Cal), adding two more pg's would give us 4 players vying for 1 spot. Anyone who's ever played before knows that signing 2 freshman pg's is gonna lead to one getting a spot and minutes and the other transferring to get playing time. Never fails, these kids want to play (hopefully) and their competitive zest won't allow them to ride the pine for 3 years when they could get PT somewhere else. On the flip side, Blair likely wouldn't transfer during his junior or before his senior year. That's why you have to space point guard signings out, you can't really play 2 pg's on one court. Sign one pg, preferably the best available, and sleep in the bed you made.

yes. Also, if OU were to get in the mix for another combo guard like the Eli Carter cat, it would be big, because he can fill it up and break a press. Are biggest need may be perimeter scoring next year if Goff and Osby can perform.
