Marshall can coach

I'm 99% sure that game was in Austin. The Texas fans and Arkansas fans both rooted against us. We were by far the visiting team that day due to everyone cheering for UNC.

I was about to post how wrong you were until I looked it up...:o Yes, it was in Austin. My bad. The memory is not the first thing to go, but when it does go, you forget about all the things that went before it .:D

At this moment, I'm having trouble getting the name "Rick Fox" out of my head.
Don't even get me started on Fox and that UNC team. They got a crapload of calls go thier way lincluding the posession where Fox was in the lake for 5-6 seconds with no 3 second call. and he hits the game-winner.

Marshall heavily relies on his Asst Coach Jans. With Jans leaving for Bowling Green, Marshall will suffer. I don't think many people realize exactly what Jans does during games.

They won 24 games, 12 conference games, and came within one point of winning their conference tournament (which probably would have gotten them a 3 seed). They were not an 8.

They were never sniffing a 3 seed.

Look at the overall resume, not the # of wins.

Yep. Austin, Texas. No pod system back then, so Austin, Texas, knew it would be hosting Midwest Regional games, the only mystery is would they have the top seed or the two seed in the building.

We were thrilled to be there, just not thrilled with the draw. If we'd dispatched North Carolina there was big trouble on the horizon because the Regionals were in Dallas at Reunion Arena. Arkansas was the 4-seed, and they referred to Reunion as Barnhill South with the SWC Tournament being played there every year. Those fans travel in unbelievable numbers.

The '90 team peaked a little too early. Hell, Towson State gave us some trouble in the opening round. But it was definitely a tough crowd. KU runs into the same problem every time they get shipped to OKC. Everyone not wearing a turtleneck turns into a Chickenhawk hater at the first sign of adversity.

The BS thing about the Wichita State loss is that they had to play Kentucky in St. Louis. What a cushy assignment for an 8-seed. Oh well. Time marches on.

If I remember correctly, the 90 team struggled with CU and Shaun Vandiver in the big 8 final. We should have seen from that game the team was slumping.

If we could have played UNC like we did KU and MU the last week of the regular season we beat them by double digits. Like you said we just peaked a little early.
