Congrats on a lively crowd - you guys really rattled our young guys. Best of luck on the rest of your season. Crazy, crazy game.

Also congrats on increasing antacid sales in the Oklahoma Metro area. There was no quit in your Mavs!

I know some OU fans commented during the game that UTA wasn't very good, but I think they'll show to be a solid small school as the season progresses. They had some big guys, and actually played some decent defense. Definitely not what I'd call a "bad" team.

I have the utmost respect for UTA's players. They could have folded when OU jumped out to a big lead in the first half, but fought their way back in the second session to make the game interesting at the end. Nice game, Mavs!

I also like the UTA arena. That's exactly what OU needs, only with another two to three thousand more seating capacity.

That place was hella-loud right before Pledger silenced them.

Had good interactions with some of the UTA students, but there were a pair of separate adult men who both cursed out my wife and her friend for wearing OU gear... So that was nice.

Otherwise, they have a really neat new little athletic village. The arena was really cool, all 7,000 seats basically right on the floor, and it got loud. I know it's unrealistic, but OU needs something like that with 2 or 3,000 more seats.

Hard to believe we came up with the same idea at precisely 9:35. What's that old saying about great minds? lol

He's been learning for a LONG time. :clap

:)

So true. And I'm still learning. :)

If OU built a new arena, pipe dream I know, it would make since to use similar set up as them but with a full upper bowl.

I think the LNC can be reconfigured into something like you guys are saying.

I think the Field house can be expanded into something like you guys are saying.

There just isn't any room. I think they have to figure out a way to make LNC more basketball friendly.

Well i for on don't think the field house is so hot, i had that damn rail and the isle right in front of me. Had to look down under the rail when the play was on my side, and over the top when it was on the other. And no one would sit there ass down and just walked up and down the entire game.

Why do people act that way? I mean think about the absurdity of it.

First cursing at two women you don't know. Did your mom and dad really not teach you better than that? Did you stop to consider a husband or boyfriend might be near and want to get into a fight (which I absolutely don't condone but some guys are morons). A much better approach is good evening ladies, may I get that door for you.

Second, do you really think you shouldn't see anyone from the opposing school? There has to be two teams to have a game. The visiting team is going to have fans.

Third, OU was nice enough to give them this game. OU did not have to do that. This was probably the biggest name school to ever play at UTA. Obviously they are going to bring some fans. Furthermore DFW is an OU town (along with other schools). They should be used to seeing OU stuff.

Maybe so, but what about parking and access to the Field House for fans outside the campus?

I enjoyed my first visit to the facility for the UCO game. But it would not be practical for games that could draw three times the current capacity. Waiting in traffic to find a place to park would be an absolute nightmare. It's bad enough now.

I agree that it would be better for students. Just wondering how donors and season ticket holders would like it? Then again, maybe smarter people than me can work out the logistics and find a way to expand the Field House at the same time.

Thanks for the nice words about our arena. The OU fans we saw were really nice as well. Great atmosphere when fans from both teams cheer on their schools.

Just curious for fans who went to the game: where did ya'll park: the adjacent parking garages or just around campus?

Definitely a nice little arena. Not a bad seat in the house and crowd was into it the whole night. Good game to open the season there for sure. Pretty nice OU fan turnout too.

The LNC can't be reconfigured to anything....the thing has been an albatross for basketball

The seating bowl can be reconfigured into a rectangular bowl. It would be expensive but it can be done. Castiglione has mentioned it as the most likely option to get seats closer to the floor. I think suites and club seating could also be added.
