Because it's been said/hinted at by the only two guys attempting to cover OU MBB; Lusk and Bob P.

Lusk:

"Based on conversations with multiple sources, it appears Elvis holds the Sooners in high regard as well. Oklahoma views Elvis as a combo guard and envisions him starting at the two alongside Pedulla"

Bob P has stated that if OU lands Garrison, Pedulla, Elvis, and Scott, there's no more money to add another "big-time" (or decent) kid and he even threw out a Maks talking point as to what kind of kid OU would maybe land with their last open scholarship (in other words, deep depth type/waste of scholarship).

Both Lusk and/or Bob are talking to OU staffers. This is coming from inside the offices.

I don’t doubt that ou is telling him that. I am hopeful that he becomes a bench player organically when cooper takes over.

Too much or nah?

I want BG but that's a hefty a** price to pay for potential. Especially when factoring in OU's NIL issues.

Here is my thoughts on it...

Is it too much last year? Absolutely.
Is the market stupid right now? You bet.
Do I want any sort of actual starting 5? Yes.
Would BG instantly be the starter over Godwin? Yes.
Do I think one of OU's biggest holes has been interior defense and rebounding? 100%
If I was a BMD, would I shell out the 800k for him? Yes.

If our budget is 1-1.5 and he is 800k, is it worth it? No.
If it costs us another piece bc we have no NIL, is it worth it? No. (We may as well be Okie Lite at that point)

Am I still mad that Bryce Pope was basically begging to come to OU and would have been a great scoring option off the bench? F*** yes, ugh.

It pains me that Hump appears to be our lead recruiter.

I've been outspoken that I don't think much of him as a coach in general, but he really isn't an overly personable guy either. He shouldn't be heading up our recruiting. He shouldn't be the first point of contact.
 



FYI for the ballers…

Sources tell BOL nothing has been set up on the Alabama end yet as far as visits go. Sean Pedulla has shown interest in UA, but we will watch closely to see if a visit happens. Can check back later in the week. Obviously, Bama is in good shape in the backcourt with some expected players back, plus two transfer portal commitments on top of Aden Holloway's visit and Sears' looming decision.

We know these things can change and often do. So, we will keep you posted if we hear more.

And on Holloway, he was expected to leave campus today. The feedback has been really good about the Bama visit. So, we are watching this situation closely.

Honestly, if Cooper isn’t starting next year that’s a problem.

It's that, or he wants to see what OU does with the other Portal additions first.

I don't blame him for not wanting to come here if we're going to whiff on all of our other "top" choices. I think somebody said he wants to play with Garrison if he comes to OU. May be a case where Garrison says yes, and Pedulla follows suit. Or Garrison goes elsewhere, and Pedulla does as well.

Fun times.
