Yep. We worked really hard on him out of Hs.Now, that's huge. Potentially.

Refresher. OU was in it for Onyenso. He visited OU July 24th (2022).
But it was kind of always Kentucky.

And OSU is broke plus probably getting Cisse or Garrison. It was down to Kansas, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and Oklahoma. Rule out KU, they don't have the roster space for him.
And OSU's staff changed, obviously. It was down to Kansas, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and Oklahoma. Rule out KU, they don't have the roster space for him.
I agree the more I watch Godfrey the more I think an increased load would make him a good player, and like stoopsbros I think if you have Elvis, Scott, and Godfrey it all looks better if the other 2 spots can go to bucket getters. would it be a lock for a tourney team? no, but you're in the bubble and if a few guys contribute more than expected who knows. Just still blown away by the pedulla stuff and the staff, would kill for more details there. It’s not great and I’m reaching here, but to inject some of the small bit of hopium I’ve got into the conversation…
Here are the individual PPG on Moser’s final 4 & sweet 16 teams at Loyola-Chicago for guys that played basically every game and averaged 10+ minutes:

11.1
11.0
11.0
10.5

20-21 (conf reg & tourn champs, sweet 16)
15.0
8.8
8.5
7.5

4.9
Now I get it, this is a different conference and a different level of opposition. But his best teams have not included a bunch of high volume scorers.
It’s obviously difficult to make this work when you’re not dealing with building a program in a traditional way but maybe we don’t have the option of multiple high volume scorers, and finding a bunch of solid guys that can fit is the best hope.
Can you find 2-3 SEC 13-17 ppg scorers with our budget? Idk, maybe. Maybe not. But maybe it’s easier to find a bunch of guys to hang around the high single/low double digits and get them all to play unselfish & equal opportunity basketball. That’s what he’s won biggest with to this point anyway.
What they absolutely need to make that work are multiple guys who can function as ball screen decision makers and multiple shooters, and they all need to be capable on the defensive end. Having a big that can score & pass in Krutwig was also a big part of those teams (particularly the sweet 16 team), but you can replace some of that if you’re a bit more dynamic at the guard spot and if you’re athletic enough to make them pay or stay at home on a lob threat.
How many guys can realistically fall into that 8-9?
Moore
Godwin
Elvis
Cooper (hasn’t — but could)
Cole (hasn’t — but could)
Godfrey - yes
Scott - yes
Jones - yes
You need a couple straws to stir it. Who can I run my actions through? I think the complementary pieces are nice. Can you convince Pedulla that you’ve got enough? Elvis can start your offense some (which is where I see a huge difference between him and Darthard as I’ve seen that comp) but he’s not a full time PG in this league. Gotta go convince a guy or two that can create.
If we get Onyenso and Godfrey, then I think Jones is the odd man out we pivot back hard to Pedulla.Onyenso, Godfrey, Elvis, Scott and Jones would be ok, but leaves us with no PG.
UNLESS, we process Yaya (please, God) to grab another guard.
If my ass were on the line, I wouldn’t want to have anyone on the bench I knew couldn’t help, but that’s just me.
It is easy to say this when you aren't the one making these decisions that impact kids. I know that is his job but it is hard to do. Hopefully they are having the conversation that he isn't ever going to play and it is better for him to look at a school he can playOnyenso, Godfrey, Elvis, Scott and Jones would be ok, but leaves us with no PG.

It’s best for everyone if he goes down a level or medically retires. It is easy to say this when you aren't the one making these decisions that impact kids. Get it done for Coach Jennie! For the WBB fans tracking Beers....
She's followed two more OU-centric IG accounts:
Courtney Harris (Director of Operations @ou_wbball)
Beatrice Culliton (OU WBB player)
to go along with...
Reyna Scott (OU WBB player)
Aubrey Joens (OU WBB player)
Liz Scott (OU WBB player)
Asia Purnell (OU athletics )
My theory on Yaya is...he's just a good kid. You can look at social media and see he has a kid/wife back home in Africa. You can tell that Yaya is a net positive when it comes to culture/locker room. Probably why the coaches won't do it.Onyenso, Godfrey, Elvis, Scott and Jones would be ok, but leaves us with no PG.

Onyenso.
basically 19 minutes per game...3 blocks per. That's just kind of insane. Stick him in the paint, give him 25 ish mpg, and say "good luck" to the opposition.
But damn, I forgot that former Kentucky assistant just left for Illinois (Antigua). They could use a center too. OU should already be on the phone though. Regardless.
GET IT DONE PORTER
I mean offer the BG package, first to budge gets it.So people are already getting excited over the Kentucky kid even though there is nothing to go on, beyond the fact he considered us in the past?

It was because of my positive post that we got a commit. Just know that and stuff, sir.I like this version of you.
Also, we really need to hug it out and direct all our ire towards our little stepbrother-cousin of a school, OSU.
Need Pedulla to go to OM and not Cowboys.
Need Cisse to go to Memphis and not OSU bc of his grades lol.
Need OSU to suffer bc of, well, their dumb fans.
They make this message board look like a Mensa convention.
