New Hump follow.
Not ideal, but I'll take him. Assuming he can't collect NIL, so more money for the last guard spot.New Hump follow.
Holy crap… my name is Grant Huffman… lol. I remember that kid a few yrs ago.. internet search of my name… funnyHow dare you, now I shall shame you with data!!!
Jk, I really appreciate the discourse. This is what this forum is about. Discussions, respectfully, on subjective matter and debate. I dig it.
I will follow up with your points, just briefly.
-Zeigler has solid numbers across the board. Much higher APG (which should be a PG focus), again, subjective and quick glance with my eyeballs.

You are probably correct and Ziegler is the proper choice here.
-Butler

Probably more of a tie as well
-Huffman

Probably correct as well, but still lean a tie bc the numbers are fairly close - Davidson and Dayton being the reason for a tie there.
ORtg and DRtg I am not sure how much value to put into, as I dont know what goes into the sports-reference datapoints for it? I am sure I could look it up, and probably will later. I have some brush to clear out, so yard work it is.
So, probably have him safely in the 9th to 13th best PG (14th depending on how well Fland plays)
Extremely raw, He's not starting in front of Godwin but we need size and he seems gettable. Reality is what it is.Not ideal, but I'll take him. Assuming he can't collect NIL, so more money for the last guard spot.
ok, I ran these guys through my formula, which I admit is not the gospel, but anyway this is what it spit out based only on last year's stats. Take this with a big grain of salt.Alright, you wanted an SEC PG comparison? You got one!

Edge column is subjective.
A few had to take into account a brand new freshman v. UT-Martin Skyhawks v. bias
I actually like his film better than ugonna onyenso...or however you spell it...he looks more fluid to meNew Hump follow.

Deivon played with Moore at GTech fyiok, I ran these guys through my formula, which I admit is not the gospel, but anyway this is what it spit out based only on last year's stats. Take this with a big grain of salt.
1. Sears, Mark
2. Zeigler, Zakai
3. Taylor, Wade
4. Hubbard, Josh
5. Clayton, Walter
6. Pegues, JP
7. Perkins, Tony
8. Pedulla, Sean
9. Sears, Jordan
10. Huffman, Grant
11 Pope, Jordan
12. Butler, Lamont
13. Demary, Silas
14. Elvis, Kobe
15. Wrigt, Jacobi
16. Fland, Boogie (no stats)
If Ivy-Curry were on the list, he would slot in between Pope and Butler. And a guy I really, really like is Deivon Smith, which would rank just behind Mark Sears.
Needless to say, they seriously need to upgrade the PG spot over Kobe Elvis.
Certainly something to work with there but the shot blocking to foul ratio from each player is a glaring difference. Some per 40 numbers:I actually like his film better than ugonna onyenso...or however you spell it...he looks more fluid to me
Maybe this is better served for us to work offline of this thread, but ping me your formula/method (if you want). Maybe we can come up with a good scoring/weighted system to evaluate players this way. Ouch.....those foul numbers are roughCertainly something to work with there but the shot blocking to foul ratio from each player is a glaring difference. Some per 40 numbers:
Onyenso
Fr. - 14.4 pts, 15.1 reb, 5.8 blk, 1.4 TO, 2.9 PF
So. - 7.6 pts, 10.1 reb, 5.9 blk, 1.5 TO, 3.0 PF
Atiki
Fr. - 11.4 pts, 11.0 reb, 2.8 blk, 2.5 TO, 7.9 PF
So. - 10.4 pts, 9.9 reb, 2.9 blk, 3.4 TO, 6.5 PF
Jr. - 14.7 pts, 10.6 reb, 1.9 blk, 3.3 TO, 9.0 PF
I’m not typically a huge stat guy in general but these trends haven’t changed much and those foul numbers are crazy for Atiki. Advanced stats are also in Onyenso’s favor. He’s never going to be a guy you just dump the ball down to on the block but that’s fine. He can be a game wrecker on the defensive end and his length and timing when blocking shots are unteachable traits. The 13 minute video of Onyenso’s 23/24 season on YouTube really highlights the shot blocking ability.
I also think OU would be better in front of Onyenso defensively and in rotation than Kentucky has been in his time there (their perimeter defense was absolutely horrid for most of this past season, and I know people hate Porter but he can absolutely teach that part of the game and demands it). So to me his effect on that end will actually be greater because they’d play better around him. Rather than a blow by that leads to a floater, mid range J, or a dump off of Onyenso’s help for a dunk, you might get more funnels into blocks/contested shots or passes into the rotating help defender. I’d also bet he’s more effective as a rebounder as a result of that.
I do like some of Atiki’s traits for sure and you’re right about how well he moves, but I still think I’d take Onyenso easily at this point.
Just hold up a sheet of paper with a large number written on it.JIC gonna zoom with OU again tomorrow night per OUI
Involved last year.
YesLove the name.
Wait this is the kid that Hump brought to Notre Dame, right?
