McNeace developing as a redshirt freshman

Justin Hite is a great reporter! He hasn't written a bad article yet that I have seen.

Two things stood out to me. While Jamuni still needs to add more weight to his frame, it's good to know he is 20 pounds heavier now than when he came to OU. I also like his drive and determination to get better. He's even striving for perfection in his jump shots:

McNeace might be getting stronger, having added almost 20 pounds of muscle since coming to Norman

“I’m not satisfied yet,” McNeace said. “I’m not going to be satisfied until I’m knocking down jump shots like 9 out of 10 open jump shots during my workouts. It makes me really mad when I miss a shot now. I’ve been working on it so long.”

He has a huge upside. I expect he will get a few minutes next year then a bunch after Spangler graduates.

Agree, LOVE his upside. If he's put on 20 pounds and is 6'10 220 that is a great start to getting good weight on his frame. He was crazy skinny when he came in, and if we can get him up to 230 or so he could be crazy good. Not going to sit here and think we can get him up to 240+ on his slinder frame.

Pretty crazy to think we have McNeace, Buford and Alade as freshman scout members... most of the time you would have one of those guys getting some minutes it seems.

Our post depth next year should be really good. Assuming Spangler and Lattin start, then we have Manyang, McNeace, and Buford off the bench. I bet Buford might start because he has the best offensive game.

I think Manyang has the best chance of those to start but Buford and Lattin off the bench will be very solid. If McNeace can give us a couple of minutes per game, we should be in very good shape up front.

If we lose both Thomas and Buddy after this year, they need some offense. I just don't think we can have Spangler, Woodard, and Lattin/Manyang all playing and put the scoring burden on Cousins. None of those 3 are really scorers.

That's why I would bet on Buford and doubt he plays the wing. Just my opinion. Maybe one of the 2 freshmen will start..... or Booker. The Odomes kid intriques me ....... James may be rusty after sitting out a year.

McNeace may be on par with Lattin and Manyang next year, but I look at them as shot blockers and rebounders ..... Not really scorers.
