Mike Anderson putting a contender together at Mizzou....

Yes, KCSooner, Ratliffe is a big. He's 6-8, 230, so not huge, but definitely a post player.

MU didn't have the horses in 2008-09, either. They rode their non-horses this season to 10 conference wins and an NCAA tournament win. They'll continue winning games without horses next year and in the future.

DM, regarding Green, yes, he did sign his LOI. You might have another shot at him a year or two from now (depending on his choice of prep or juco). I haven't read much about him, but apparently he's got insanely long arms to go with his very good athleticism... I've read he's got a standing reach of 9'4" (maybe 9'2"... I can't remember which it was; compare that to 8'9" for Blake Griffin, who's an inch taller). If he ends up going to a prep school and resigning a year from now Mizzou may not have a spot for him (in-state big Otto Porter may get preference).

Being from KC and knowing a little about MU...are either of these guys "Bigs"? The major problem with MU is that they have no depth in the middle and no big man. When Stafford got injured last year, they got abused in the middle by everyone. So are either of these a big man?

Ricardo Ratliffe is the #1 juco in the country and a power forward.

They will have Bowers, Ratliffe, Safford, and Underwood in the paint.

Mike Anderson is very good at recruiting guys that fit his system. They may not be as athletic or highly touted as Kansas or even last year's OU class, but the seem to always fit. Its better to have quality players that can play together, than elite players that can't.

Jeff Goodman says that Oregon is now targeting Mike Anderson. I don't know enough about him or the situation there to know if he would consider that job. I assume Nike will give the next coach a blank check. Anyone with insight here?

that's exactly what I'd do if I were Oregon, give Anderson a blank check and have him fill in how much it would take for him to move to Oregon.

810 (kc radio station) reporting that anderson turned down a 3 million offer.

uo thowing a lot of money around and getting absolutely no interest. it's interesting. from the outside, oregon doesn't look like a great job, but also not as toxic as coaches are treating it.

Thanks guys. If they get a guy that can clog the middle and get rebounds they can be very hard to handle. I think in the big12 a lot of the teams are learning how to beat them though. They are very tough for underconditioned and undiciplined teams though!!!

I don't think teams have figured out how to beat them... no more than they already knew how, anyway. It's not like Anderson's doing anything new. He did it with Richardson at Arkansas for over a decade, and it was done before that by others.

I think it's more that Mizzou didn't have the team last year that they had the year before, and the top three teams in the Big 12 all happened to be very, very good (and Texas A&M was also good, and had a roster very well suited to play a team like Mizzou).
