The $2 million per season, which has been widely reported to be the top price Missouri is willing to offer, would place Anderson within a circle of the 12 highest-paid coaches in college basketball.

Figures obtained from USA Today, Forbes, ESPN and other reports place Kentucky’s John Calipari on top of that list at $4 million a year. The rest of the list: Tom Izzo ($3.4 from Michigan State), Billy Donovan ($3.3 million from Florida), Bill Self ($3 million from Kansas), Thad Matta ($2.5 million from Ohio State), Rick Pitino ($2.25 million from Louisville), Mike Krzyzewski ($2.2 million from Duke), Rick Barnes ($2.15 million from Texas), Roy Williams ($2 million from North Carolina), Bob Huggins ($2 million from West Virginia), Ben Howland ($2 million from UCLA) and Sean Miller ($2 million from Arizona).

All but Miller have at least one Final Four coaching appearance.

According to some we would have to go North of 2 million to get Buzz. So we would be paying Buzz more than Roy Williams, Bob Huggins and Ben Howland are earning???? I'm sorry, but that is insane.

There's no way that anyone is giving Buzz Williams 2.5 mil after this season. I bet it's about 1.8 mil maybe 2 mil if Arkansas gets involved that's the max side. More than likely we pay him a base salary of something like 1.2 or 1.3 mil with bonuses involved to put it over 1.5

There's something very wrong when Pitino is earning more than Coach K is.

coach K has other goodies in his contract that make his total compensation along the lines of $4.5 million

2 million is a lot for someone that has never coached a game here or won here. I would hope that if this is the offer that it is shorter in duration (5 years) and that we make the buyout huge....

Nick I think Buzz will get close to 2 million or he is not coming IMHO. Funny when we hired Capel,Jay Wright was too expensive now we hire someone for more than he makes. Wish we would have done that before.

$2 million is a lot relative to what top coaches are making now, but I'd bet within the next few years it's the norm.

Gottlieb just tweeted - "Andy Katz says Anderson will take Arkansas."

no way buzz comes here for less than capel was making

Mizzou fans are in meltdown status.

Personally, I don't understand the gnashing of teeth for Anderson. This is the 3rd or 4th job he has either entered negotiations for or used to broker a new deal from Mizzou (UGa, Oregon, Arkansas, etc.).

If I'm Mizzou's AD, I tell him this is the last renegotiation we are doing. If you find a better job, you need to take it.

If Buzz is really making 1.5 do you think he's going to come for less?

The ADs are doing it to themselves because they are afraid to make a decision. They lack the ability to actually make a good decision so they simply try to outspend their competition. It is stupid.
