Mike Shepard leaves for high school AD job

OU's director of basketball operations, a hold-over from Coach Kruger's staff, is leaving to be athletic director at Casady School, a private school in OKC.

Was retained to give him time to find a job locally. Favor to Kruger.

Was tired of moving.

He will be at Cassidy. It should be nice for him and his family. Hard to be director of operations when you aren't the coach's guy.

I think there is a staffer on board already that is special assistant. Learning the ropes. Shepherd wanted out of college without Kruger.

Casady recently applied to join OSSAA. Most expensive private school in the state I believe.

Sad to see Casady leave the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC). My son attends a SPC school in Dallas and was excited about making it up to OKC to attend games once my son hit high school. Talked to Casady friends this fall during a HS football game at my son's school and they mentioned that Casady was likely to apply to join the OSSAA. Once Holland Hall left SPC the writing was on the wall for Casady to leave since there wasn't any other OK school in the conference.

I'm not sure if Casady is the most expensive but it is generally accepted that Casady is the best HS academically in the state of OK.

Hope it works out for Shepherd. Casady's sports have suffered over the past decade or so. Their biggest rival is Heritage Hall and Casady quit playing them in football because the games weren't close. Granted, Heritage recruits for athletics and Casady doesn't but Casady needs better coaching from what I've seen.
