How about Bruce Pearl. I feel like he doesn't get a lot of respect in some circles because he's an oddball but his results speak for themselves.

I vote yes...

has had this program actually performing consistent since he's been there and taking them to the Elite 8 for the first time in its history...and for a High Major to have never done that is amazing to me (i wonder how many other high majors have never made it at least that far)...

Bruce Pearl doesn't get the credit he deserves because he's still "blackballed" by much of the coaching ranks, including the guys who are announcing the ballgames. He turned in Illinois for recruiting violations back in the '80s while he was an assistant at Iowa, and a big fight ensued. There are still people out there that hold that against him, even though he was in the "right".

my favorite coach in the country by a large margin. If you haven't seen the segment about Pearl on HBO Real Sports, then you're missing out on a great story.

If he ever comes to OU has the coach, I will help organize the Pearl Jams

how can you not love this guy

Then I will change the name to the Mookie Blaylocks

You are right on target -- I lived in Chicago during that time and there was some serious anger and bitterness back then over what Pearl did. I believe it was over a local player Deon Thomas. That's why I had to chuckle when Illinois people were so righteous about Kelvin going after local player Eric Gordon after he got the Indiana job. Sometimes fans have short memories.

Can you say Show Cause Penalty for multiple NCAA infractions and lying to the NCAA?

Come on guys, it is highly likely Pearl will be banned by the NCAA. Nineteen of the twenty coaches who had the same infractions received Show Cause Penalties and you want him at OU. Can you say basketball death penalty?

there's NO death penalty anymore...and I'd take a year with no NCAA because we aren't going anyway.

so pffffffffffffffffffffffft and nyah nyah to their "show cause" bullcrap

don't say that. I'm one of the retarded ones who actually believes we can make it just because.

There might not be a death penalty but they sure kept Baylor from playing non conference games a couple of years ago. I believe it was 2005-2006 coupled with a post season ban.

I like the "sacrifice" next tat. That's some hardcore sheet right there.

I would take him. His cheating was not near as bad a Flloyds from what i have read.

So if we hire him, is there anyway to "show cause" that we should not start with him being punished somehow?

Regardless, I would take the penalty just to get him.
